We need to look into going and camping at this place. I hear good things about it. Will hold a good size group. Is private. Has a few small creek crossings. It's somewhat expensive to rent it out but would make a good base camp to do some exploring and such. It has some really nice waterfalls and places to swim.

Marshall that is a great spot!!!
I have proposed it for ONSC annual meet. or even a laid back N/S meet/greet and parts swappin extavaganza.

It is so close to so much as well. Good rope swing not too far, incredible fishing, great hiking, the sliding rock in the campground is great and free unlike the one up the road now  And for the bikers the campground sits at the end of eight of the most incredible downhill singletrack miles I had the pleasure of hitting. Plus with the group im sure we could always get a ride back to the top instead of pedalling gravel. :D

The old fail and flee scam

Except, I didnt fail to show, or flee the county (for 7 more years at least)
not my fault their detective's work sucks

The nice lady at guilford courthouse told me I could have a seat and someone would be out to discuss it shortly with me. Thats when I realized it was 5 till 5pm on friday and I was at the JAIL and decided not to wait on this someone that I imagine jingled when he walked and excused myself from the building :D

And if you want the whole story................
well ya see one day back in '96 a campus super duper cant get a real job cop saw me remove my window screen and crawl through the window ( I left my keys in my Design Studio ) so he promptly wrote me a ticket for destruction of state owned property (screen). I provided proof from the University that no property was damaged and no charges were being held against my account the ticket was deemed invalid and tossed.

15 years later.........I think the state must be running out of money and digging deep for answers from the public wallet  They tried their darndest to try me again, but I refuse. However noone but myself has records and the DA's office admitted "sorry sir, this record is so old we dont have records of it" !!!!!!!! So I faxed them in and got a call back shortly saying "sorry these are not sufficient".

Ive made multiple permit purchases and even was a YMCA Backcountry trips youth counselor which required an extensive background check.

needless to say it was a fun weekend in raleigh on the lamb, and on the side of the road

I was fortunate enough to meet the managing DA at dinner at a friends this week in Raleigh and ive now been returned to fine upstanding citizen status :)

I would get that in writing if i were u. Amazing how they will chase down people for stupid #$%^ like that but people get away with major crimes everyday.

You should be in my shoes. I lock up the same drug dealers and other criminals all the time and the courts dont do anything with them.

There have been 51 police officers killed in the line of duty this year and almost all of their murderers have extensive criminal records and should have been in jail if the system hadn't let them out eary.

In 2002 I was dispatched to domestic violence call where the suspect had pointed a gun at his wife and told her that he was going to kill her. I arrived to see him standing over her in the back yard. I knew he had a gun so I didn't have the option of waiting for my backup who was comming from about 8 miles away. So I did what I had to do. the suspect jumped in a truck and tried to flee but my car was blocking the driveway so he tried to take off across the back 40 but couldn't get out. Long story short we had a brief standoff till his wife decided to run back out where I was to "talk" him out of it. All that accomplished was pissing him off and him pointing the gun at us forcing me to shoot him. Needless to say not my best day at work or the next week while I'm under the microscope being investigated by the state law enforcement division, my department, and the solicitors office (DA) waiting to see if the monday morning quarterbacks were going to give me their blessing.

Two years down the road I find out that the wife came in and signed a waiver of prosecution for the domestic violence charge and the solicitor dropped the whole case including the charge for pointing the gun at me. Unbelievable, especially considering the suspect was a convicted felon who was out on bond for other felony charges when this incident happened. Trust me I understand your frustration.:bang:

Yeah, by no means did I mean disrespect to Police Officers in general nor the purpose of the justice system; more specifically this one individual and the lack of a successful operation of our court system (that you even more impressively pointed out) And you got to admit its pretty recidulous and incredible that such a silly and previously solved issue would return 15 yrs later and tie up our courts from handling the scum you deal with.

Turns out NCSU had a major overhaul of their public safety dept. in 98 and there was an overwhelming purge of officers that had previous marks on their records or were involved in unethical behavior on campus. I recall reading most had applied and not made the RDU police and wake sherrifs dept. and thats all I meant by the comment.

By all means I thank you and your fellow officers for the service they provide

i really wish it would quit raining. My 4 children whom i love and adore are driving me insane!!! They have been outside maybe once in over a week now. We've played every video game and watched every movie we have.

No offense taken. I know you and I understood where you were going with that. I am a realist, I fully understand that within the proffession some are good, some not so much and then theres the one that I scratch my head and wonder how they got hired to begin with. It's the system that needs an overhaul here. I have suspect's charged with distribution of crack 3rd offense that get 30 days time served because the Prosecutor doesn't have time to mess with it and lets them plea guilty so they can get out of jail, then I'll have someone with a driving under suspension 3rd offense charge get the mandatory 90 day's jail. Just doesn't make sense. I've been doing this a long time and almost every murder case I've seen (other than domestic) has been commited by someone who had a previous charge that had they served their time would have been in jail at the time the murder was commited.

If you do get sent to the pokey I'll take care of your cruisers for you. lol:steer:

So Scott, what do you think about the 2 citizens that chased the armed robbers of that Pharmacy on Monday in Charleston? I am sure the PD doesn't approve of citizens putting themselves in harms way, but I am sure these guy's might still be roaming the streets if they hadn't pursued them.

What do you guys think about a turbo'd inline 6 vs. an LSI V8? This would mainly be as it applies to a stock 4.0L in a TJ, but I guess the discussion would still apply to any boosted inline long stroke motor over any Chevy FI V8. A stock 4.0L motor can get to 255HP at the wheels for $4100, or we can put in an LS1 from a Vette for $6k and have 365HP at the RW's. The motor and ECM will only cost $3700 but it's all the extra stuff that has to be done that drives the price up as opposed to the turbo. I.E, cooling, bell-housing, exhaust, etc.

i would go 3f or the ls1

It looks like a long stroke 2F, with TBI and a turbo makes about the same RWHp as the 4.0L Jeep engine with the turbo.

However the LS block trumps that by over 100hp. The turbo can be installed in a Saturday, the LS1 will take a couple of weekends minimum. Question is, what is the longevity of a high HP inline 6 over an aluminum small block? Couple that to the stock Jeep manual can handle the turbo, but probably not the LS1.

Jason & Marshall

The cove creek group campground is as nice as they get. Lush
Grass, nice facilities, and the sweetest downhill MTb single track ever. Even a nice creek crossing for the cruisers. Don't let the nightly price get you ... It's dirt Cheap for what you get! Count me in, and I like jason's idea about a cruiser shuttle. While there's no true off road for the LCs, there are plenty of FS roads and distinations like Pilot Rock.

Jason, sorry to read about hell week. Next time call Uncle Jerry on the legal issue (one of the best prosecutors I've ever known).

i here crickets!!

Anyone here keep track of the Masters? Looking forward to seeing how some of the younger guys do this week.
