Opinions needed...

I'm thinking about possibly selling my 80 to fund another project. Not super sure at this point, but wanted to get some of you guys opinions on what it's worth (for those familiar with my truck). Not factory locked, but have an Aussie rear, 4 inch Ironman, Warn M12000, ARB front bumper (dented up) 38.5 super swampers, rebuilt steering box and 105 sector shaft, new power steering pump, rebuilt front knuckles about two years ago and very few miles since then. Paint is terrible/destroyed, basically every body panel has dents, both rear quarters are dented in, driver front fender crushed, carpet is stripped out. seats are terrible, but covered in cheap seat covers. Needs new flex joints in exhaust, AC dryer is busted, so no AC, rear heat deleted, rust through where passenger seat belt mounts, rust through inside front fender about the size of a fist, transmission cooler replaced factory power steering cooler, rerouted hard lines with soft lines. 178000 miles. Also, radiator is only a few years old.

Mechanically in really good shape and a great wheeler, but it's a wheeler. I wouldn't DD it and the body and interior are rough and the fenders are cut also. I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of other things.

I know what i could for it selling parts off, but what do you guys think it's worth as a complete rig? Basically, it's ready to wheel once the exhaust was fixed.
👎

You said that it's not a daily driver. What is preventing it from becoming a dd? I think you would find someone who would want to drive it to the trails, wheel, then drive it back. That would open you up to more people.
It could be driven to wheel no problem. We use it to
run up to Asheville and I’ve driven it to Windrock, Golden Mountain, Uwharie, Black Balsam, etc. just not ideal.

Almost all of the auto parts stores are "drill down" specialists.

I miss the "old Wares" Napa in Simpsonville.

Had to have been made at my OReilly's

Today's conversation:

Me: I would like to buy this battery (already selected and in the cart)
Costco: What is the make and model of the vehicle?
Me: It's a 97 Toyota Land Cruiser, but don't worry about it, I already know it fits.
Costco: (Tapping on the computer) Is, uh, that a Chevy?
Me: Toyota
Costco: Is that base or alloy wheels?
Me: I am buying a battery, it doesn't matter.
Costco: I just have to fill it in, I will put base.
Me:

At first I thought he was ribbing me, but after calling another 2 people over to figure out how to ring it up, it was just that bad. Good news is that Costco is stocking 27F's now. Over the past several years I have needed batteries a few times (two new, and a warranty exchange) and they only had the 24F. Their computer lists the 24F as the right size, and 27F for Canadian models. They decreased their warranty to 36 months from 42 though.

I use the local O'Reilly's in Chesnee, SC as my primary local auto supply. They do the make and model thing on everything as well. So over the years I have come to deal with the manager and the person that runs the back end of the store. I generally just walk past the front to the back.

I am always looking for something odd (to them at least) that really does not pertain to the vehicle I am working on currently. Last was a temp sensor and pig tail for a mirror I put in a FJ60. That was fun :)

Every so often I will mess with one of the new guys.....

Me-"I need a radiator cap for a 1987 Toyota FJ60 with a 1992 Toyota FJ80 frame, 1995 FZJ80 rear axle, LS3/4L65E Connect & Cruise package and a Ron Davis radiator"

New guy- "Ahhhhhhh, what year did you say that rear axle was?"

Holy s***! I was there 6weeks ago at Costco too, SAME conversation. Actually was buying it for one of the cars and was looking at the book before anyone could start the drill down. I saw that the Canadian/larger battery version was available and for not much more money. He was mystified that I was buying the "Canadian" battery but lived here.........tried to explain but had to stop.

@Bryanseye

How do you like those Milestar Patagonia MT ?
It’s just the spare. Rollers are Cooper STT’s and already had too many miles to consider 5 tire rotation so I put the cheapest MT on the back that had any decent quality reputation. Looks like it would be alright but no real input to give.

I've heard good things about the Patagonia MTs on the rocks (and seen them first hand). Woody runs them on his buggy. Not sure how they would hold up on dual purpose rig.
