Yeah it's a sweet little jump box. Marshall started a cruiser with no battery 13 times with it. Plus it's got every hook up to charge just about any cell phone out there. Best part is it fits in your glove box.

So, I'm gathering parts at the moment, but should have everything this week. I need to replace my power steering cooler and fix a coolant leak. Also, want to change my PHH out to a SAMCO unit while I have coolant drained. Any one ever changed a PHH out before, besides Marshall :hillbilly:? If so, I would appreciate some on hands help/advice once I get to it. I could provide beer and throw something on the grill or grab some pizzas.

Teddy, I have done it, remove the tire, remove the little inner fender rubber pieces... I used a headlamp, I think I had to use a few wobble head extensions to tighten the clamps, I used the constant tension clamps. not much else you can say. It is just something you have to do, a one person job.

Thanks for the feedback. I fixed my coolant leak today, so I just need to replace preemptively reolace my PHH with the Samco silicone unit with constant tension clamps and replace my power steering cooler with the Mr. Gasket unit I have ordered.

@3pits , do I need to drain all the coolant first? Or can I get away with just draining the radiator?

I drained my radiator and ended up with a qt or so coming out of the metal line... If I were doing it again I'd drain it all.

I may have a brand new 80 power steering cooler in my parts stash. Let me check, may save you some coin.

I can't remember if I sold it or not.

I have the same one , it's great !

Dan, appreciate the offer, but I'm going to use the Mr. Gasket unit I ordered, I believe. Wheeling with 35's my OEM unit gets super hot and there's a good chance I'll be moving to 37's within a year or two, so I figured I may as well upgrade.

No worries, I did the same thing (aftermarket) on the Avocado.

Teddy, I changed out my PHH. Actually I did the bypass and took out the hard line that runs up to the heater valve block. Getting out the OE PHH is not a big deal. Getting a new hose on the block fitting is a little tricky if you are right handed. I managed to get the new hose on mine pretty easy after finding the right position to apply the pressure needed.

Thanks! One more question. When I replace my power steering cooler, can I not replace all the OEM lines with 4000 psi Goodyear lines and hose clamps? Seems like it would work fine in place of what's there.

as long as it is a good seal I dont see why not. the OEM is only pricey on the high pressure side.

yeah, I just think if I'm running the same line up and down both sides it would really simplify things and not have to mess with the hard line sections that corrode over time. That's the issue I'm running in to. The OEM set up seems over complicated to me. @Trollhole , what do you think? Any negatives to this set up?

I'd stay away from clamps on the pressure side. I build my own pressure hoses using -6AN fittings and high pressure hose. The return side does not require high pressure hose and you can use clamps on the return lines.
