There are plenty of ways to get a diesel, just none of them are very cheap.

I heard you can buy brand new portal axles from Mopar from the prototype Jeep for 23k PER AXLE.
 
Toyota is testing diesels now (5.5L I know for a fact.) They won't release anything until the government finalizes the regulations for 2017. So, nothing within the next 24-36 months. I strongly believe that they will release one but it is unlikely that it will be a light duty truck. The most likely is an HD version of the Tundra, probably a 1 ton. There is no market for small diesels in the US so you won't see any diesel Corollas or anything like the Jettas, BMWs, etc.

Edit: And no D4-D Tacomas sadly...

if anyone had the $$$ and wanted an ultimate off road vehicle I happen to know of a shop that would gladly build an armagedon ready bronco/blazer/scout/land cruiser/jeep/el camino/insert your vehcile of choice here portal axle diesel expo rig....They could even start the job tomorrow!!

One of the dogs I'm fostering head buttered me last week while playing and it feels like he broke my nose...

Another dog I was fostering (shepherd/husky/cattle dog) that was a stray brought to the shelter, got accepted yeaterday into a nose work training program, he is going to be trained for Search and Rescue and or Cadaver Search....
