As far as I know the VM engine was only used in the Portugues built trucks.

Chris, what was the engine in some of the rigs from Spain? I thought they had some bj73 without the 3b and 3bii.

Hey Nigel,
Spain received the 3B trucks up through 1987. In 1988 they received the VM powered rigs. The Canary Island continued receiving 3B powered trucks through 1987 and the 3B-II in 1988-1989. I do not think they received the VM powered rigs in the Canary Islands. People independently import trucks from all over the place, so you'll see a few odd balls here and there...

If you own a 79 Series pickup that has been built on a 80 Series frame there is no need to hide in the shadows.
It's still a 70 Series and belongs here.
It like being a member of AA ...... You start off by stating your name and admitting you own a "modified" 70 Series.
