What's the story on the Jeep rolling? I saw the Jeep Sunday morning getting loaded onto a flatbed as we were leaving.

He lost a bead at just the wrong moment. It wasn't too badly damaged, but a bunch of tranny fluid came out and it wouldn't turn over, probably pistons full of oil.

The first half of the unroll was done by hand by about 20 of his closest friends. The 2nd half was Kevin's winch (mud handle? I know I should know it...) Once it was on wheels, StHarris and I headed for the ham and cheese sandwiches.

Funny thing was that we heard on the radio, at the last checkpoint, about D.S.Doug's roll-over and went to investigate. We found the turtled jeep on the way there and got there just after the guys had crawled out.

I've got more photos too, but I'm really busy being retired, so they'll have to wait until later.

I'd like to attend next year so I'm NOT going to show my wife this thread! Lots of shiny side down. Glad everyone's ok, looks like a lot of fun.

Beead was blown in the rollover. It was some young college frat guys who were inexperienced in the sand and came off a ridge wrong. I was heading out to check on the 80 that rolled and spotted some tires pointing sky ward. drove by and saw 3 young guys sitting above it looking lost. Took about 45 min to roll it back over, keeping the good side good and getting the spare on. We thought it had hydro locked with oil in the cyl but it never cranked. I think there is a roll switch that killed the starter. Hard top and windshield destroyed, two tires that need sand cleaned out of the bead and a cranking problem. Looked like they lost a quart of atf.

i have heard of SnT and TnS over the years but never went. finally made it out this year and had a blast. hope to make it out every year after this. even tho i dont have a LC or FJ, i had a great time checking out all the cool rigs.

Will do, I'll post it up here and start a new thread as well.

Buffed right out. Kids were disappointed when they went to go show the dent to their friends and it was mostly gone.

Had a great time. Tested the seat belts in the 80. Kids all had a bit more adventure than I had hoped for but they get to tell the story about escaping through the sunroof.

Wondering how you did that, and thinking BKCruiser would have just backed out of it. "It's not a flop if you can drive out."

Glad you came!

The 4Runner on the right went shiny side down on Sunday afternoon. I saw the aftermath and heard everyone was okay.

Yeah that pick up was the nicest I have seen. Good to see them running around.

i Imagine the backing out of it comment was made in jest. ;) I guess the photos did not do justice to the angle we we were at. I really don't believe the wheels that were touching would have got enough traction except to put us on our lid.

And I brought my stunt kite this time too. Wind was not strong enough so I didn't bother setting up my stunt kite. There was like a small window with wind of about an hour or so, but that was basically it.

We left our stuff behind while we went on the Pozo run, then came back to the wind trying to blow it all away. I guess it came up around 1:00 Sunday afternoon. I now have a couple tent poles to repair.

Any wind this year, Eddie?

Not nearly as much as some other years. It was cold late Saturday afternoon. I crawled in and took a nap from about 5 until dinner. I didn't want to get up, but heard someone working on the fire, and I was hungry.

Seems there was less sand this year, but some of it was harder to drive in than previous years. I pulled out three people on Friday night.
