We had a nice thread for stock bumpers that were trimmed in the 80 section and I thought it would be nice to have one here as well. Looking for inspiration...

I remember getting rid of my steel bumper, which was installed with a stock trimmed bumper. Got rid of it to reduce front end weight that was causing nose dive.

Drove it for a couple of days before getting a new stock bumper, since radiator was exposed.

    James,

Any pictures looking forward from behind the front wheel? I'm trying to see how the liner attaches once the bottom of the bumper is gone.

One of the questions I had was whether the front bumper flaps in the wind or otherwise makes any noise, being that it is secured along the bottom by a half dozen bolts. Cutting would remove that security. Several people on GXOR have done this mod and no one seems to complain about any noise or problems.

It might flap but it hasn't flown off!

    Here is my trim job.

Here is what I used from O’Reilly Auto Parts and one pack of 18’ door trim will be enough for both front and rear bumpers and I would assume both L & R Steps

This stuff is kind of a pain to install, best trick I found was to fold it backwards just before pushing it on. And don't expect to slide it once it's on because it has some sticky stuff inside to help keep it on.

How loud? I too am concerned about added noise. If it is just moving around a bit, that's fine. If it is flapping in the wind at highway speeds and creating a bunch of noise, I need to find a solution to securing the bumpers after the trim.

I’m sure that was reason enough to order that new rear bumper! Looking forward to seeing it welded up.

Re: flapping. I drilled a few holes behind the license plate and tied the bumper to the crossmember with some cord. No flapping that I can hear, but it could be drowned out by that damn SUNROOF RATTLE

No noise that I can here inside the cab. Not even sure if it flaps at all.

It’s an ASFIR Alluminum Skid set from Israel. There is a whole thread on it if you search ASFIR and my user name. Priced about the same as steel ones made here in the US even with the shipping.
