I sanded mine down just enough to remove the damaged paint, taped them off, and sprayed them on the truck. I used a dark bronze Rustoleum that matched PERFECT.
before (not very good pic but you can see the damage)

After (I used the same paint to do my emblems as well)

So, I fianlly got around to trying the Trunk Monkey approach. Great idea. Looks great. One banana job. Only hang up I had was when my wife walked by and reached out to feel the texture. I was not fast enough and this was the result. A little sanding and some xylene removed it and I redid the panel.

Dan,

We need a shot of the whole truck with the new trim paint! I have a Thundercloud 100 with fading trim as well. We need to see how yours turned out so we know how ours will look when we pull the trigger.

Thanks

I painted all my trim and rear bumper cover 2 1/2 months ago. Everything is holding up great!

Thanks for the pic Dan.

I think it looks great! Well done.

I couldn't believe it when she reached out to touch it. I was not close enough to stop her. She just said "oh" as she looked at her fingers.

I hope to get the sliders on before I move in a couple of weeks. I don't really want to haul them around.

Thanks Lash, but we should thank the Monkey. His idea. I'm happy w/ the results.

Of course! Thank the Monkey.

Thanks Monkey!

I really love my gold emblems that are now DupliColor Phantom Gray Metallic. If I had to do it over again, I might go a shade or two lighter.

When the time is right, I'll address the side trim to match.

Thanks again.

if anyonee's interesting I found it here: Automotivetouchup.com Touch Up Paint, Aerosol Spray Paint and Paint Touch Up Accessories Just got it last week and did a test run and it looks like a right on match to my Sonora Gold 100. Going to do the side mouldings all around (and clear coat them). Will post results.

Hey Fish--you ever get around to trying these? I have a 2000 LX with the white/pearlish finish, and the rear bumper needs some serious touching up. Wondering if you tried these paints yet? Thanks in advance--
2000

For wheels, the best is a sandblasting gun.
I would use very small grain, like 1000 or 1200 water paper sand, for trim
(Maybe nothing... just clean trims correctly before painting could be enough)

Well... maybe we're not using the same scale...
