One more question, what do you mean by getting to the hard lines? do I need to remove them?

Yes. The hard lines are the delivery and return fluid lines for the ATF that runs the system. Those need to be loosened and separated from the rack. The same as if you pulled a fuel tank, you would need to disconnect the fuel lines to remove it.
