I've flushed my transmission using the cooler hoses, no problems, now at 335,000 miles. If you do multiple drain and fills of the pan never reuse the crush washer for the drain bolt, use a new OEM crush washer every time you drain the fluid and be very careful not to overtighten the bolt.

No the drain and fill way like I described. You drain the engine oil, move the drain pan, drain the trans fluid, put the plugs back in, go top side and put in engine oil and 4qts trans fluid. Like I said make it a ritual for 5-7 oil changes and you have flushed 95% of your trans.

I take it a step further and use a turkey baster in my power steering fluid and remove the old and then add trans fluid since I use Mobil 1 synthetic for trans and power steering. This way you're always introducing fresh fluid.

What's better 1/5th fresh fluid every 3,000 miles or 100% fresh fluid every 100,000 miles? Lol

Concurred. I like that approach. I just want to keep my tlc running as long as I can before I Frankenstein it into my FJ142 (80+62).
