The big pig became a trailer queen today.

I think I need a Tundra 5.7

The fit on the 80 axle in the rear is a smidge tight. :D

Look at that cute little 80 series there!

:)

Hey Gumby what's going on with the rear wheel wells on your 55? I can't tell from the photo, but it looks like the wheel wells have been enlaged and the rear quarter panel has been chopped. Is it just the photo or have you done some modifications? I have always liked your 55, is it going to become a fulltime trailer queen?

Ryan.

More of the rear quarter has been chopped. A lot of it was rust and bondo that kept falling out as I wheeled it. Some has been taken out for tire clearance. More still needs to go. I 4 linked the rear with a 80 series axle and moved it back about 2 inches so I hit in the rear under full squat.

I'll keep it street legal for runs to the campground and such, but long drives are too much adventure anymore. I think the top is coming off soon and a cage installed.

Besides, now I'll have a rig for a hard core day and I can wheel the tow rig on an easy day. :D

You could get into a lot of trouble with that set up!

Any more photos of the rear of the 55?

Thanks.

Really nice. I've never pulled anything so big with a 1/2 ton, so I don't have a lot to compare it to.

You can tell it's back there, but I was very comfortable at 65 mph. It turns 1800 rpm at 65 in tow/haul mode. The trip computer said it was getting 15 mpg. The 80 never got that without a trailer.

I would be comfortable pulling the pig to Moab.

Now if I can just get them to move CM to June.
