Yes. I think they look and ride great. Wish I’d gone w a size that fits in spare well though..I was hoping due to my arb rear bumper I’d be able to fit it. But it’s 34.75” actual height on unweighted. No way it’ll fit.

Always wanted 35’s though so had to give them a shot v

I’ll probably switch to 285 70 or 285 75 when an opportunity presents itself. Kenda has some 285 70 r17’s for 170 each…If I find someone interested in the 35’s I may sell them.
I'm thinking seriously about the 35 10.5's. I have a swing out on my Dobinson rear bumper so I don't have to worry about clearance underneath. My other option is 285 75 17 that measures out as a 34 11.50

I think I’m gonna go 285 70 17 or 285 75 r17…next time. 35’s excel Offroad…but they don’t excel on the highway…and I spend hardly no time Offroad compared to on.

I might end up with the smaller tires and then want the 35’s again though, tires are tough to choose because they’re so expensive and you have to keep them so long.

Priority Tire has a deal right now for a set of 5 of the 35 10.50s for $1400

My 35x10.5r17 now more than a year on the truck. Still like 'em. Still generally quiet and the grip is still good. No negative feedback to share. A soft, smooth ride, air down well, good traction in all conditions.

There is a Pakmule locally for $600….I just can’t bring myself to splurge on it. I do want aluminum and foldable….prefer a 60” long…looks like only 22” wide on those though. Amazon here I come. 😬

Bumping this back up to see how everyone is liking their Pakmules. I am going to get a Scout to handle a cooler, case, and sandspikes/chairs/bait station for fishing the outer banks, plus other general things.

I agree the Scout and the other Pakmules are expensive, but I seriously have not read another single negative about them. Everyone who buys one basically says they are the best carrier they've ever used. I guess this is a "buy once, cry once" scenario.

The 60” one from Amazon that can carry bikes has been handy…it’s huge.

I’ve got it underslung on a kuat here…with a Wilco and a riser on a smaller one above it…dual swing away…between this and the roof rack, it kind of gives the utility of a pickup truck…though it’s removeable.

I can remove the kuat and tuck it in a little closer (do it this way for groceries lately)

Or remove it altogether and just have a fold down mini carrier that doubles as a recovery gear hauler (though it’s currently on the roof rack, I can bolt my tools and other recovery gear in a rifle box inside the folded up mini hitch basket if I want it easier to be accessed-you can sort of see it in the 2nd photo-or it fits 4 maxtrax there in the folded up position)

Anyone put a packmule on a swingout wilco and also a swing up like this.

- The packmule has a patented design to prevent wobble, would using this basically negate that?
- The packmule also sells a lock, which I assume would be a nice thing to protect an expensive carrier... Could someone just slide off this other product then, negating the benefit of the lock?

Surprised they don't offer an option for the packmule to fold up or a swing out.

Seems like you're paying for the rigidness of the welding job but then if you add other stuff to it, is it really worth it?

I went ahead and bought the Pakmule Scout last week. I think the answer to your questions are:
1: Yes it would negate it from the perspective of the Pakmule directly into the receiver, but it would still reduce wobble into the swing.
2: They don't do a great job of explaining it IMO, but get the lock because it also THREADS into the Pakmule receiver insert to let you tighten it down and reduce wobble. Here's the link to the lock pic: https://pakmule.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/LOCKSET-01.jpg

Also of note, when the LC lower tailgate drops, it has overlap with the rear of the carrier. So if you, like I, plan on running coolers and gear boxes all the way to the rear of the carrier, the lower gate will not drop without hitting those items. I'll get more pics of it all in a bit.

Can you stand between the pakmule and car to access your trunk with the tailgate up?

BARELY. I can slide in to open and access, but its tight. More pics. I am 6', 195 and somewhere between lean athletic build and dad bod that likes cold beer. Also, I will hear no slander about my awesome pineapple shorts.

Here's a side shot to show the overlap I mentioned between the lower tailgate and the carrier, as well as how it'd hit the Yeti 45 if I oriented it how I originally planned.

So I settled on this orientation and I think it's going to work really well. Pelican BX80 Gear box and Yeti Tundra 45. Leaves tons of room for my buckets, sand spikes, chair(s). Only thing I don't like is that when I'd cut bait on the cooler, my back would be to my rods if I parked with tailgate facing the surf. Easy way around this is park parallel with the shore line.

@JRHorne What truckvault is that? Also - burn the shorts...YW.

@JRHore thanks for the demo. It might be a bit tight for me. I'm using a LetsGoAero but it's a monster to install 100 lbs, similar threaded pin. Definitely looks crooked but It can slide out when parked. I guess I will keep it.

That's one hack of a bait cooler for fishing!

The Scout looks like a great model but the built in floor would be the only thing I wish I had. The two piece design, smaller footprint and lighter load rating don’t help my cause. But if your looking for something to attach to a swing out and don’t mind the above I think it will work better than anything on the market. I know I’ll never get near the load rating but to me it is a perceived strength in the product. I just wanted something that gave me full access to the lift/tail gates even with the cases attached. Call me a fanboy but I just love their stuff and it seems they have something for everyone. They are worth every penny, and once you get one you’ll see.
@Gr8Daneger What module Pakmule is this, and what hitch type do you go for (straight through, 4” riser, etc). Yours is the setup I am aiming for and look to acquire very soon. Thanks in advance. (I did look at their site. I thought they had a vehicle finder option, but I am either missing it or they’ve since removed it.)

I love the look and durability these look to have.

Mine is the Swayback, and I put directly into the receiver on the truck.

I have the hitchn’ post too, it’s nice for storage.

Here are the cases!

And the straps I use, much cheaper than Pakmule’s.
