Yes they will be. Just give us a call and we will arrange for you.Are those floor sections pictured available separately ?
I guess we will but not yet.Are going to be making the drop down tailgate also? I would think that would be more popular than the barn doors.
I think there are a lot more 40s with the three piece setup (hard tops) than drop down (FST) in the US. Hardware is also hard to come by for the drop down tailgate. I have a rusted one I was considering restoring and switching to, but have grown to love the little swing out barn doors. Are going to be making the drop down tailgate also? We just discussed about this option internally. All we need is a good piece of the original to start with, if demand is there.I had barn doors a long time ago. I'd prefer a tailgate, and I think some would swap to one. There's many folks with amby doors and need a tailgate to fill the hole when the top is off. Especially, now that this company is offering the lift hatch. I would hope the will offer the hatch's header piece and hinges too. A lot of folks have made tailgates out of barn doors.
I have a tailgate here in Temecula if you need one to look at. It's not 100% perfect, it has some rust holes, but it's straight. I can drop it off to your facility if it would help. I think the thing with tailgates VS barn doors is that there are far more barn door trucks out there, so more used barn doors are available on the used parts market. The tailgates were for FST FJ40's and SWB FJ45 trucks, which are far fewer in production numbers than the barn door outfitted FJ40's. I think you'd sell a few tailgates, but there isn't a HUGE market for them. I have bought 3 drop down tailgates, and I think the most I paid for one was $400 with shipping. I think your half doors have potential to be a big hit, I'll be taking a look at those closely once you get them stateside. We just discussed about this option internally. Thank you for the offering. I am not sure about if we want to go with the drop downs. We can only do with what the market needs the most. This topic had been discussed several times a while ago, in this forum and in Facebook. Unless Toyota wants to come back to supply the body parts, someone has to provide them. You have parts here everywhere from Canada, Porto Rica and Columbia already, it can not do more damage by adding parts from China. In the end, who supplies the best parts and services who will be the one stands.I want to think this is a good thing, but it seems like we'll now have a bunch of Chinese bodies being bolted onto trucks that might have otherwise been restored. Just like the influx of badly restored south American trucks has tainted the market, a lot of buyers won't know the difference between an original U.S. spec cruiser and a non. I guess we'll see.
Hi DKM, here is the plan: we plan to leave the bracket on side so it can be put on either side of the tub; initially we did not want to put the 14 capture nuts on top of the tub but recently I have been pushing to put them in, and we are in the process of figuring out how to make them right; we are working on the the 4 roll bar supports - we already got the 3D data. All these will delay the final delivery and we we probably won’t see them until August.Tim, will the -78 tubs come with the spare tire carrier backer plates? How about the roll bar supports? I think you said previously that the holes would not be pre-drilled/tapped, is that correct?
Good to hear. I think people are more than happy to wait an extra month or two if it means getting backing plates, captive nuts, roll bar supports, etc. Thanks for at least listening to our feedback!Hi DKM, here is the plan: we plan to leave the bracket on side so it can be put on either side of the tub; initially we did not want to put the 14 capture nuts on top of the tub but recently I have been pushing to put them in, and we are in the process of figuring out how to make them right; we are working on the the 4 roll bar supports - we already got the 3D data. Yes we are going to have and ready to ship before 7/10. We name it FJ40 cross member above ambulance door. You can order from tpautoparts.com directly.Good to hear. Also, can I buy just the rear hardtop brace? The piece that adjoins the two top sides above the ambulance doors? I don't see it individually listed on the website.
