Tundra got new wheels. Toyo R/T Trail 285/75R18. They balanced easy. Bit stiffer on the wheel but smooth at speed. Gonna lower the back end a few inches to make it level. That’s next. Just a hair inside the fenders That’s the best part

Looks good Jon! I had to read about those tires. What made you choose them over A/T III? Imperial equivalent is 34.8"x11.2" it looks like?

I think the differences are not too great. These have a different tread, kinda cool wanted to see how it is. Funny but they
look small on this truck. They are same size as the 60 tires and on that truck they look much bigger in comparision.

First 200 km trip to Vic and back. Straight tread line makes a nice bit of tire noise. Louder than the MT's, kinda surprised.
No difference to economy, the engine is strong enough to compensate. Can feel the weight on lift off though, and
being stiffer than the Coopers transfers road conditions stronger. It's a truck, so far so good.

But does it fly?
Yes, it will fly - if I drive it off a cliff. Which of course some days we all want to do that! I know today I do because I’m dealing with these pathetic screwball ripoff artists that run Roger’s Internet and I want to drive the CEO off that cliff!

BTW, nostalgia hit today. I posted a thread in CHAT. Finding out the first days of MUD and when it all started.
Back in the day of ORIGINAL Radd Cruisers, when I first joined TLCA in '97. I rang Woody, so maybe should be an
interesting conversation. This pic taken with Cricket Dec '97 up Haslam Creek, literally. We drove up the creek to cross.
I miss the old roads and the actual access before they strip mined the trees and our rights.

I met Woody at one of the round up meets, nice guy.

Just a beauty drive to work today.

Stocking up on feed. BJ74 rides so much nicer with 375 lbs in the back! Nice shot of ferry coming home Wednesday

Nick, we talked about this on the phone. The R/T Trail doesn’t get the 3 Peak Snowflake. It’s definitely not 4.5 winter handling which put it only .5 below the AT. 3.5 would be my rating with limited siping on this tire. If I wear them out I won’t replace. Definitely look for something with more siping. They get limited ice/snow road use. We have to get into the mountains and see how they do in actual snow. The 4Hi works really well and more than compensated for the tires. Basically as soon as we went 4Hi we left traffic behind even towing the trailer.

Went on a hotshot road trip to retrieve a Tundra box. Which turned out to have a tail light dent so bad that major work was needed. Originally described as ‘small dent easily covered by tail light’ isn’t the same as ‘backed into post and crumpled the tail light housing after smashing the tail light to smithereens’. So not to get depressed about that I still towed my trailer up the infamous Coquihalla Highway after 20 cm fresh snow. Then next day drove through southern mountains of BC to Trail and all the way back to Vancouver. Took a friend and it was an epic road trip. Towing trailer in 4Hi on the highway still got acceptable mileage and aside from realizing new Toyo R/T Trail tires really are a marginal winter tire being brand new saved them from being called crappy winter tires. New Morimotos headlights proved to be a very good upgrade. Highly recommend.

Took the picture in the dark so the new rims look better… :D

Picked up a four 225/45R17 Perelli tires on rims for $150. Though I’d try out some slightly bigger tires when I could get them cheap. The have lots of tread left and aren’t very old.

So far I’m impressed with the tires that retail for almost $300 a tire.
