Cool.

I grew up off of Maxey Rd in Nanaimo.

Really cool property, lots of caves to climb around in, and a ton of fossils.

Always hoped to find something really cool like a trilobite (or a grey alien or a T-rex 🤪)

But mostly just found ferns.

That's cool to know. I'd love to find some leafs or ferns at some point. Mostly only found marine type stuff on the south island. Will have to read into that area of Nanaimo to see if there is any access still....

Edit: From google maps that area looks all private and busy now. I've heard there are similar sites up around Nanaimo general area though. Will have to get up there one day.

The cave at the end of the driveway was the best. That layered old shale always had something.

I should have kept some.

I bet there's other spots around. I'm probably not using the right terminology, but that blue rock that comes apart in layers with the slightest tap.

Always found something if I looked for a few minutes.

Remembering the good old daze...

Ugly! Was that in Duncan? His truck isn’t a 4WD?

Yes, on my Grandma's property yesterday. Yes, the dodge is 4wd and was going absolutely nowhere.

Second picture down you can see my tire tracks beside his where I'd been parked beside him - I didn't even break through the turf (bottom of pic).

Wish I had a video of pulling him out. Cruiser didn't slip/spin or anything even with all that weight. I was quite impressed.

Sort of. The front springs had already started sagging under my winch/bumper weight, so I'd added 1" spacers at that time. Also, those are 32" tires.

If you want to have an accurate idea of how a fresh 2.5" Dobinson lift with 33" tires should look, check out this guy's thread starting here: Builds - 1992 LJ78 build/refresh - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1992-lj78-build-refresh.1031347/post-11426215
That looks very good. He said he needed to extend the brake lines, I wonder if he ever did. I wish I could see what it looks like on the lighter 71.

Saw an article a couple days ago about a couple that have been travelling in their blue 60 since 1984. Something like 750k km on it.

Between that and this dude, my butt hurts just thinking about it. I probably haven't put half that many kms on all my vehicles combined in my life...

Found a new Old Road behind Ladysmith. Stocking Lake area. Hours of conference calls, taxes and work bull**** drove me out of the house. Beautiful day on the mountain. Nick - there’s snow but soon it will be good. Lots to explore. Also the ubiquitous criminally disposed of car, promptly reported and with thanks apparently. Got the hair on the back of my neck standing up when reporting person asked if “any weapons in evidence or sight”. Damn!!

Some guy in the 70 section has been posting some pretty nuts pictures of cruiser single cab trucks.

Here's one I can't quite figure out is a photoshop or what. "one of these is not like the others".

My buddy has a house on the cliff side backing off to the freeway, my dream house and shop with a paint booth big enough to fit a dump truck. He is a great guy and use to rent me his two bays and once and awhile the paint booth, even had a decent mixing room.

Not 2212 is it? Cuz that'd be weird

Ours was backed right up under the cliff, the big cliff with all the round hollows in it. Long ass driveway with a big cave at the bottom. About the 3rd or 4th drive on the right coming off the east wellington end.

Cliffs run all along that road behind the houses. Used to be some caves with multiple entrances

No freeway when we lived there tho, think my folks sold it in 87 or 88 or so.

always amazed no idiots on dirtbikes went off that cliff, they were always ripping around up there.
