Servicing and restoring my bottle jack now. Have everything off except the spring clip shown in blue circle. This holds the screw top extension from being unscrewed too far. I can’t see it. Anyone know how to get too the spring clip?

I just disassembled mine as well. I read one thread where you can just keep unscrewing it and force it out. That’s what I ended up doing and seems ok. I’m sure with patience you could get it out a better way.

Thanks. I’ve learned the hard way about forcing things. How do we get the spring back in after we force it out?

I haven’t put it back together yet. Just got everything primed. I did run the extension in a couple threads but it stopped. I’m guessing I’ll have to force it in just like I forced it out. Here are some pictures of the spring. I’m not even sure how you remove it. I’m sure it can be done with some patience and a little luck.

Thanks for the close up image of the spring clip. I guess you would need to pry the clip to the inside with a screwdriver just enough to allow it to screw out.

On another note, what color are you painting yours? I was going to use the ACE school bus yellow but can’t track any down.

I was able to find the 17135 School Bus Yellow from ACE hardware. Was on the fence with what color to choose but decide on this one based on the comparison chart.

After attempting to remove the small retainer clip from the inside, it just occurred to me that there is no real reason to when servicing or painting the bottle jack.

It has been a while since i did these, but I believe i forced the screw jack apart, then straighten the spring pin
here is a pic of the spring pin. Is this what you are asking about?

Trying to get information on the OEM jack for my 1983 Troopy. Number is 09110-60020. Looks like it only came in 08/1980+ BJ45, FJ45, and HJ47 Land Cruisers. Given the relatively tall stance of the Troopy, I'm guessing it extends higher than the 40 series jacks of that time period: 09110-60010 and -60040. Unfortunately the original tools are almost always long gone on older vehicles in Saudi so not sure I can find one here. There are only two mentions of 09110-60020 on mud and neither has any definitive information or photos.

@cruiserdan does that Australian Troopy have the original jack? I looked through the restoration thread again and didn't see the jack anywhere.

Or maybe @boozewz, does your '82 Troopy have the original jack? Looks like @sloanstavern '82 Saudi Troopy didn't have the original jack either but just in case he has additional information.
@cruiserdan can you provide any information on the jack and handles that are in the Australian Troopy in the Land Cruiser Museum. Apologies for my persistence but that is one elusive jack to get any information on. Thanks.

Brown bottle jacks 09110-60010 or 09110-60040 become rare.
Here is a small prove that it is possible to restore the old brown jack using the new parts from the available versions 09110-60090 / 09110-60100 / 09110-60150.

I had a fresh 09110-60090 from J8 and was not happy by this. I’ve bought in Japan the correct but old 09110-60010.
Inside of the 09110-60010 was very rusty

So my idea was to swap the parts.
Disassemble the jacks. The upper part is the same, the bottom part is a headache for the new 09110-60090. I’ve used the Dremmel + drilling but the YouTube shows a different option for disassemble / assemble

Jack Rod / Starting Handle Brackets

This post addresses jack rod and starting handle brackets used with FJ25/40/45/55 vehicles through 1984. The images have been collected from Mud and elsewhere online, dates are taken from Toyota parts resources. Please post comments, corrections, and suggestions for improvement.

FJ25

The parts catalog identifies 7 clips, part number BJ 63115, CLAMP, JACK HANDLE. Four of these clips are for the jack rods and the remaining 3 clips are for the starting handle (discussed below). Originally body color. Each clip has 2 offset holes. Located on the right rear wheel well on vehicles with jump seats, on the left rear wheel well on vehicles with the rear bench seat. (treerootCO)

Starting Handle Brackets

FJ25

FJ25 starting handle brackets, part number BJ 63115, CLAMP, JACK HANDLE, are the same brackets used for the jack rods. There are 3 starting handle clips, 2 on the left rear wheel well, and one attached to the side wall. Originally body color. (treerootCO)
fj25-59-jpg.1014881

FJ40

There are 3 starting handle clips, 2 on the left rear wheel well, and one front clip. The front clip is located on the floor just in front of the wheel well.

Early FJ40s use the same starting handle clips as the FJ25, the large clip with offset mounting holes. Originally body color.

Starting in 1966, FJ40s use starting handle clips made from spring steel, part number 74741-90301, SPRING, STARTING HANDLE SUPPORT. Originally unpainted. The mounting holes are in-line. (Landwrecker)

For markets where the starting handle was not provided, the starting handle clips are not installed, the small cross-head mounting screws are used to fill the holes. (Landwrecker)

When the jack rod brackets were relocated to the left rear wheel well on 1/79, the jack rod and starting handle clips were combined into one bracket for markets where the starting handle was provided. The combined bracket, part number 58305-90302, BRACKET SUB-ASSY, JACK HANDLE CLAMP is on the left, with the clip for the starting handle located between the 2 jack rod clips. (erics)

The 10/81 jack rod bracket was redesigned to hold the rods vertically. The combined jack rod/starting handle bracket was similarly changed to hold the starting handle above the 2 jack rods.
81-84-clip-l-jpg.1014883

Starting 1/79, the starting handle clip was attached to the jack bracket to provide the 3rd point of support. The clip is part number 74741-90301, SPRING, STARTING HANDLE SUPPORT, held to the base with self-tapping screws. Although the jack bracket was originally the body color, the clip was originally unpainted with black vinyl coated tabs. (Cruiser804)

FJ45 Pickup

FJ45 jack rods and starting handle are stored on the cab wall behind the seats. Each jack rod is held by 2 clips, the starting handle by 3.

Early FJ45s use a wire clip, part number 58848-90202, SPRING, JACK HANDLE SHAFT CLAMP. Originally unpainted wire, the clip housing is painted the body color. This 1963 FJ45 has a pair of clips for the jack rods only. (jschmi71)
fj45-63-jpg.1014874

Spring steel clips were used starting in 1964, part number 74741-95110, SPRING, STARTING HANDLE SUPPORT. For this 1965 FJ45, the jack rods are stored in the 2 upper pair of clips. The starting handle uses the bottom clips, the 3rd clip for the starting handle is to the right and up, near the 3rd latch. (motortribe)
fj45-65-jpg.1014873

This 1978 FJ45 uses a different clip arrangement. The starting handle uses the topmost pair of clips with the jack rod clips underneath. The 3rd starting handle clip is to the right and down, closer to the floor.
fj45-78-jpg.1015766

This 1982 FJ45 uses different jack rod clips and a slightly different clip arrangement. The starting handle clips are still on top, but the 3rd clip for the starting handle is to the left and down. The jack rod clips now attach to a common base. (love2fly)

FJ55

The FJ55 jack rods and the starting handle/spare tire carrier tool are stored on the underside of the rear seat. Each jack rod is held by 2 wire clips, the starting handle by 3. Originally unpainted wire, the clip housing is painted the panel color. (LandCruiserNation)

Really useful info, thanks.
I see the 78 FJ45 has an extra bracket to the left, my 77 HJ has two -- any idea what these were for? Fuel related?
Mine has been partly cut, and I'm considering removing it to improve my fuel breather routing to the massive tank.

This RK91100 2-ton jack was included in early 20 series Land Cruisers. The rods and handle you see were not originally paired with this specific jack, but I believe they are also correct for that period. The last photo is the tool kit page of a 1956 BJ25 parts catalog.
