Cool wheels!

OK, stocker 40 centers on a 16 x 9 steel outer. How much do they weigh? What is the back-setting? I'm a bit surprised the caps clear the 80 FF hub. Did you have to play with that to fit them?

I really like that...;)

Totally killer look, just kinda using a little personal taste and saying you should move this badge to here.

I've only had mine 6 months, but so far I love them. Still look new.

Dammit!! I wanted to put those style wheels on my rig, but without the hubcaps! I was just looking at stockton wheel last night dreaming of some dark grey steelies!! It looks killer on your rig. I'm going for this look of wheel, there's gotta be a way to get something like that but in 16x8, split or not. Again, vwry nice looking rig you have.

I expect them to be pretty popular in the West as Les Schwab carries/stocks them, basically it is one of their brands for all intent and purposes. While you can get other brands at Les Schwab, thay will charge you crazy prices, ie. $250 for 285/75/16 MT/R, as opposed to $185 at Americas Tire. So, many people who have money, and don't know any better than to go to Les Schwab, and buy the "off road" tire they recommend, will find themselves with Toyo Open Country MTs. Not neccessarily a bad thing as I think it is the first real "off road" tire they sell, most of their Wild Country brand are 3 or 4 ply tread and 2 ply sidewall

One of the Canadian vendors was/is selling those exact wheels (I think).:)

I've found that the tirerack prices are even lower than Americas Tire sometimes. They have a deal right now on select Goodyear tires where you get $40 off, this includes MTR's.

Do you know David Reljac? Those are the wheels I wanted to have made for my wife's 97 40th...Reljac told me about your Cruiser (or one with the same old school wheels in the Boston area)

Seeing the pics makes me want to get it done...finally.

What B/S did you have Stockton make them?

Thanks

Nice tires. But I am sad to hear that they are so heavy. Those were the tires I was set on when I started building Black and Tan. Unfortunately, that was around the time frame that everyone and their dog was also dreaming of them and they were on a significant backorder.

So I looked into the MTR's, and were a little shocked at the price. BFG had a special on the Mud's so I went with them.

I love the tread pattern of the Toyos. I found a Cooper Discovery tire at SEMA that has the same exact tread pattern. Some of the guys in the club here have bought them. I guess now my big concern is the weight. Unsprung weight makes such a big difference on how the power feels.

Oldgoat - The Toyo's look awsome, but I was wondering if you were concerned with those meats rubbing when you get your 80 flexing?
Yes, I'm planning on a new lift this summer. The BFG's barely rubbed but the Toyo's sidewalls are a lot thicker and will probably chew up the flares.

Cruiserdan - OK, stocker 40 centers on a 16 x 9 steel outer. How much do they weigh? I have not weighed them yet, but I can tell you that they feel like boat anchors. I have another set of the oem widened wheels (15x8) on a 40 with 35" SSR's and they are lighter than the Toyo's on 16x9's, by a long shot. I'll weigh one soon and will report back. What is the back-setting? It's been a while and will have to remeasure the BS to be sure. I think it's 3". I'm a bit surprised the caps clear the 80 FF hub. Did you have to play with that to fit them? No trouble fitting them on.

Fuuny you mention that as I almost put the badge there. I think you're right and will probably move it.

Do you know David Reljac? Yes, he's a good guy. He lived in Boston and hung out with the Yankee Toys crew with his sweet mustard 40 until he moved. Do you know where he is thses days?

What B/S did you have Stockton make them? The 40 has 4" BS and I think the 80 has 3", but will have to check to be sure.

Thanks,
Randy

totally agree .. but I need to write dude .. " F beauty wheels .. old look is amazing .. ! "

I've been very happy with my Toyo MT's in the snow, rain, dry and mud. I would definitely buy them again. They are heavy though. 11-13lbs heavier than most other MT tires. For comparison in the 315/75-16 size:

Goodyear MT/R D load 62lbs
Toyo MT E load 76lbs
BFG MT D load 63lbs
Yokohama Geolander MT+ C load 65lbs

Holy shamolees! I can't believe how much heavier they are! Man, I simply love the tread pattern of the Toyo's but that is huge hit. They say, (and I am not a physics student), that for each pound of unsprung weight you had, you double that and add that to the vehicle. So, 13 lbs per tire (comparing BFGMT to TOYO) add's 104 pounds to the vehicle!

With that logic, my Toyo 35" tire/wheel combination were about 58 lbs heavier than my stock wheels. Total additional weight 232 lbs x 2= 464 lbs! Plus adding the spare tire, that's 522 lbs!! Sure feels like it.

magic weight additions? :)

Your 80 Kicks ass, love the retro emblems and hubcaps.......
