Hello all - Thanks for all the input on tires, very helpful. Here are a few pics of the 80 with 315 Toyo Open Country MT's. The tires have worked well so far in dry, wet, ice, hard packed snow, and deep snow. They are louder than the BFG AT's that were on before but not as loud as BFG MT's. They have the same noise level as the MTR's on a friends 80.

These suckers are heavy. They felt twice as heavy as the BFG's that were on the truck before. Must be the E load rating. And I thought the truck was slow before!

Good tires so far and will report back once I get them on the rocks.

What kind of rims are those? What size and where did you get them? I assume those hubcaps are OEM Landcruiser hubcaps? I absolutely love the look of your cruiser!

OME heavies front and rear.

Do you have trim packers/spacers on them OME? The truck looks good though with just the heavies and 35s. Looks awesome with the Toyo MTs.

What kind of rear bumper is that?

P.S. Just curious: where in MA are you? or am I misreading the plates?

How spendy were they? I got a quote today locally for 4 of them at $1116.43. What sucks is I have a brand new set of BFG ATs I need to dump 1640 miles on them when I pulled them off this AM. They still have the nubs on them.

I love the retro 40 look with the emblems and wheels. Very cool! I think it works with your color. It might not look as nice on a different color.

The wheels were made by Stockton wheel. I sent them a set of old 40 wheels and they cut out the centers and remount them onto any outer that you want. These are 16x9's.

No spacers or trim packers, just the standard heavy OME.

I made the bumper which is still in progress. I need to sink a 2" receiver in there and run supports to the frame. The sliders were designed to look like the oem steps. Located in Natick MA.

The tire cost $1125 for five. The tire shop I go to cut me a nice break on these...if you can call $225ea a break. If you're anywhere near Boston, I could probably get you the same deal.

Thanks for the nice comments!

Nice looking bumper, nice wheels and caps, nice badges and nice color! Looks like a nice rig.
I'm in Western MA, up on the Mohawk trail, so hardly in the vicinity of Boston.

82cruiser,

Please keep us posted on the long term wear and tear of those tires. I'm due for new tires sometime this year. I've looked at the Toyos and I like them. I heard that their side walls are tougher than the MTRs.

Regards

Alvaro

I really like the look of your rig 82cruiser, clean, no BS and very industrial looking. The Toyo's look awsome, but I was wondering if you were concerned with those meats rubbing when you get your 80 flexing?

I agree - they look very cool - always liked the stock 40 hubcaps, they remind me of moonies.

Damn!!! That is a sweet looking cruiser! Love the wheels, the "vintage" emblems, the rubber, the lift... Very cool!
I would be interested to hear some long term results of the Toyo MT's, ie. tread wear, and durability. Anyone had them for a while?

Randy, sir, your 80 series is a class act, LOVE the old-school rims and emblems!

I really like the old and new combination.
