$19.95 at P.A.W. here in N.hollywood... I need to change the mounting bolts, but that's it. It's a nice piece too...

How does it stay in one position??? that might make my truck work:) :) Just kidding I have many more issues...But it looks really cool...Thanks for the info...

It's a two-piece assembly with an o-ring to seal it to the intake manifold. You just swivel the neck to where you like, then bolt it down (the oval ring thingy) and it sort of pinches it down. hope that makes sense...

I noticed this site had some kind of fitting for the EGR pipes and other stuff oriented towards GM engine swaps.

hard to tell from the pics on that web site

thanks! mine is a little different from that, so that's why I had to make my own setup...

I also saw that they have straight-boot plug wires for the ram's horns, but HOLY $$$$$$$$$$

I think making my own from two different sets would be less.

Now it makes sense...you wouldn't happen to have the part number and know if I could pick one up or do I have to order it and pay the shipping and tax....

no idea on the part#, but I just went in and told them what I needed and they grabbed it out of the back. They're on the corner of Coldwater cyn. and Sherman wy.- you could take the 405 to Sherman wy. take a right then follow that to Coldwater. Their phone# is 818 503-0356. call and make sure they have it in stock, and you're good to go...

Calfj60, I believe there is a PAW in the south bay are too. It will save you a trip to "the valley".

Dynosoar :zilla:

OK, updates... I got the radiator in today, nice close fit, but my fan is too big- lower radiator hose will hit, so I'll get a smaller fan...

plumbing is almost done, the fuel fittings I ordered form chevy are for a 5.3, so they're getting new ones for a 5.7 motor, then it's finish the rest of the small wiring tidbits, finish the charcoal canister and misc vacuum fittings, and then to the muffler shop!!!

I also dropped my gauge cluster off at N.H. speedometer to change over my tach (expensive, but all new circuits, and the tach will now read up to 8K :D...)they called today, and it's already done, so I'll get pics tomorrow...

Plug wire dilemma has been solved as well, MSD #32109 ??? IIRC, is for 96-99 chevy P/U with a 454 vortec, so it has straight boots that work w/ ram's horns!!! they're a little long in places, but they fit well otherwise, and there's NO CUTTING!

what else? not sure, but it's getting CLOSE!!!!!!

pics will come probably tomorrow if I remember the camera...

cheers.

had such a s***ty morning with N.H. speedo, that I didn't work on the swap... I did get some last parts picked up today- throttle cable, P/S hose, had my AC condensor cleaned/tested.

the tach looks great, but the service/attention I was given will make me NEVER EVER go back. I've purchased many times from them, but this time was the last time. sucks, cause they do really good work.

anyways, here's a pic of the new tach, enjoy.

Damn Pilos1
Things really are coming together.
So how did the wiring go as a whole? what has been the biggest issue? Did the trans wiring go smoothly?
I have to assume that everything was pretty straight forward as you havent really complained about much excpet parts problems!
Watching this thread, and then driving my rig around again I remember how much of a dog the 3fe engine is...It makes me want to do it too!

Youre doing a GREAT job, and the thread has been very informative!
Keep it coming

the worst part about the swap is the stress I give myself...

the wiring hasn't been all that bad so far. I'm borrowing Dynosoar's FSM chassis manual, and I've been lucky enough to pester the guys at TLC on an almost daily basis:D

I've had a couple of small issues with some of the sensors on the motor not being exact with the harness, but that's my issue, not howell's- I had them send a harness for a 97 vortec to match my ECM (also 97) My motor is from 99 though, so there's a few small things that aren't perfect (purge valves, etc...), otherwise, getting plug wires was a hassle, and some other parts issues here and there.

Wiring the trans was easy, as I'm keeping my H-55, just running a VSS to howell's harness.

i'd probably be done by now if I was a little more informed about the interface between the toyota and chevy stuff, but I am learning:D

hopefully, the rest goes smooth, and I'll be done and driving before I stress any more...

thanks again for the kind words, now do one of your own, and forget about that rear-view mirror:D :D :D

Hey Philos,

Sorry to hear about the bad times at NH speedo. They have always been good to work with in my past experience. I like the new face they put on the tach, I'll talk to you about it next time I see you. It sounds like you are almost there keep up the GREAT work. Let me know if you you be around on Sunday, I may be able to stop by.

DOH!
I forgot you were using the H55!
I thought you were using the tranny that was mated originally to that engine!
Yes, yes, I did read the post from the beginning, I just "FARTED" so to speak.

Rear-view mirror?

AJP- can't remember the part# off hand, but they're in the FAQ... got em from reid supply. I used the 90lb. ones, but even 60 would work...

browser- I used the vortec 5.7 harness; I think they call it HV57? basically, you call them and tell them what swap you're doing. They take it from there.

Dynosoar- I'll be there on Sunday so swing by if you like.

Chicago- you won't have to check the rear-view to see if that RV is going to pass you :D

LCOwner- PM me if you need the whole story..

off to go turn some wrenches, updates this afternoon, cheers.
