BwardeAZ- thanks, even if you're not into "this type of thing"
Dynosoar-yours just needs a car wash, the TPI looks cooler (IMOP)
Manuchao- sorry about the busted leg- climbing? or?
rides nice, but that was a short trip, find out more later, sounds perfect; a little rumble is all you hear. H-55 seems to like the combo so far. you can drive it when you start yours :D
I should be able to handle the other small things soon and get to really flogging it before too long...

Mnt Bking..in the San Gabriel Mnts..

I'll let yah know what I'll do..........ENJOY !!!

thanks guys! still working out the small things, but at least I can drive it... I LOVE the new driveability, easy starting, and of course the power :D

got the stereo hooked back up today and built a new enclosure for my sub, I'll cover it next week and get some pics of that up too. sounds killer with the dampening.

P/S pump is still noisy, but I think the air bubbles are working their way out (already did the uphill bleeding technique twice), so hopefully I don't have to swap it out so soon.

thanks again for all the props!

cheers.

WAY TO GO Philos1,
Ive been waiting to hear how it all comes together for you!
Great job and great write up...
I may be PM'ing you in the future for mine!

Now, what kind of mileage are you getting?:D

Congrats!

Chicago

What year Tahoe did the engine come out of?

the motor came out of a 99 tahoe, the ECM came from a 97 for registration purposes/simplicity...

Chicago, no idea on the mileage yet (speedo is off, and I haven't driven all that far yet)... Power is great though...

SHE LOOKS GOOD Philos !!!! So what's next?

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH...that's what my wife is thinking right now.

nothing really, but I may make a new front bumper and get some better mirrors. I also need to do my brakes and knuckles, so maybe a 4-runner caliper and knuckle job?

just started a new show that goes till mid-May, then the wife is due at the end of May/start of June. Then I already have another gig for June lined up. I'll be busy for sure.

Shane, good luck with the ref this Thursday.

Let us know how it all turned out..

Do you recall what you used for the throttle cable and should the setup of the cable at the firewall be done when the engine is out?

i used a Lokar universal throttle cable, I forget the part #, but I just got one of the longer ones and made it work. Randy has a trick use for plastic window clips in the cable assembly, maybe look back a couple of pages to see what I'm talking about?

I also did the cable as one of the last things after everything was in.

cheers.

Ok, I saw other post to same question i has asked. I hope we can get started on this swap business soon. Waiting on other projects to clear out.

OK better late than never...

almost there! sent the ECM to Oklahoma for programming yesterday and it's already on it's way back. bought a trick 40 pulse VSS from downey that I'll install probably tomorrow, wiring is almost done finally, still looking for the right fan to put on and may still ditch that and go electric... all that's left is oil cooler, radiator hoses, fan, and the last section of fuel hose if it ever gets here, then off to the muffler shop for exhaust!

one little side issue is that I'm not sure 3/4" offset to the driver's side is enough as the motor sits slightly diagonal now. no real issue with performance as the driveline looks great, but aesthetically I'm not sure. I re-checked all my measurements and all looks cool, but I dunno- it wasn't really noticeable until I put the fenders and hood back on... I may try and shift it and see If the angles still look good- if not, then diagonal it'll stay...

sorry, no pics today, but there will be soon enough.

cheers.

Hey,

Which VSS speed sensor did you use? The one that mates to the transfer case or one of the others... On the Downey web site it looks like the one that mates to the transfer case is a good thing...

yup. the 40 pulse version that mounts to the back of your t-case is the one :)

Looks like I need one... to make this thing run right.
