Good question Justin!
Looking at the rules, it's perfectly okay for someone to run for two or more offices.
Back in Tony Twiddy's time the question came up, "is it possible for an elected officer to serve as a delegate?" The BOD considered it and the consensus was no. The bylaws state that each delegate and officer get only one vote. So... the BOD concluded that folks should not hold two voting offices.
One minor addition. If you run for two offices and win them both, it really puts someone in a bad place. They would get the position you backed out of, but they never won it. Kind of makes it hard for them to feel they have any support. I know, it happened to me.

60 new e-mails in bodreps since Thursday! Holy drama Batman. I don't know how you folks can keep up with this? I certainly can't. 
The speed at which miscommunications are currently traveling far exceeds the ability of anyone to try and sort out, much less try to provide some type of damage control. I certainly have questions about the Internet's ability to foster diplomacy and patience.
It is obvious that we are coming to a crossroads. There are a few new faces, a few new ideas and lot of old problems, old grudges, and stereotypes that won't go away. The old timers are fatalistic about the newcomers chances for success, and the newcomers find their enthusiasm and ideas symied at every turn. This reminds me of a short poem from Ernest Hemingway:
The age demanded
The age demanded that we sing
And cut away our tongue.
The age demanded that we flow
And hammered in the bung.
The age demanded that we dance
And jammed us into iron pants.
And in the end the age was handed
The sort of s*** that it demanded.
The TLCA is YOUR club. Treat it that way. Look a little further down the road than the next post, the next run, or the next issue and try to consider the other people involved here. That's all I'm gonna say for right now. Still gotta try to get to 6 more forums to see what else I've missed!

I would like to nominate Jason Phillips, TLCA #16529 for MSVP. Jason goes by the screen name of streebeck here on mud. Jason is a new TLCA member and a new FJC owner, and enjoyed the recent Surf & Turf. Jason PMed me about MSVP back in September, and he and I had a good phone chat at that time. He has a marketing/sales background and will bring a fresh perspective, new ideas and a lot of enthusiasm to our organization in this position.
IMHO, the introduction FJC represents the best infusion of excitement into our club since 1983, and new FJC owners are our future. Hailing from Corona CA, Jason recently received his first issue of Toyota Trails and thinks it's one of the best magazines he's ever seen, let alone one that's published by a car club with relatively low circulation. I spoke with Jason this evening, and he is still interested in TLCA MSVP, and will present a campaign post here tomorrow.

My name is Jason Phillips and I am happy to have been nominated by Mr. Jeff Zepp for MSVP.
I am a current TLCA member and I own a 2007 FJ Cruiser, bone stock. I have very little off-road background. However, I have found that in my limited time off-road, I can claim that, much like Honda did in their late sixties ads, I've met the nicest people driving a Toyota. This I found at the recent Surf 'n Turf: Toyota owners are probably the most diverse, loyal and dedicated off-roaders around.
What I lack in off-road history I believe I make up for with a relatively extensive sales and marketing background. I started in the dental business ten years ago, working as a temp for a small dental materials manufacturing company in California. Over a period of seven years, I worked my way up from Temp to International Sales Manager. As the ISM, I visited all of the company's foreign distributors. Working hand in hand with local representatives, I gave presentations to the local sales force and visited dental laboratories with them. I was essentially selling products to laboratory technicians who were not fluent in English; sometimes successfully, but always challenging to say the least.
Three years ago, I took a job as Marketing Manager for the second largest dental laboratory on the west coast, employing a total of just over 2600 employees. As Marketing Manager, I create monthly and yearly product-specific marketing plans, complete with dollar sales forcasts and percentage growth goals. While the dental industry itself may be a far cry from the off-road industry, the tools used to achieve growth are essentially the same.
I have no degree in marketing or any fancy certificates that make my peers think that I know what I'm talking about. Everything I've learned in the dental business, I've learned from exceptionally good (and patient) mentors. I am a high school graduate and a former US Marine Corps infantryman (B Co. 1st Bn, 1st Marines), if that makes a difference to anyone.
My drinking credentials include being a member of the Century Club (100 cans of Miller Lite in a 96 hour period) and a lot of drunken liberty stops in foreign ports that I cannot quite fully remember, if that makes a difference to anyone.
I have absolutely no mechanical credentials whatsoever, but I do know the difference between a piston return spring and a johnson rod.
As far as what I would like to do as MSVP, here are some brief bullet points:
**Erase the current budget deficit by increasing membership and expanding merchandise sales.
**Increase membership through clever and creative outreach.
**Expand and increase merchandise sales (including Toyota Trails) domestically and internationally.
**Investigate the possibility of a full-color Toyota Trails and expand its availability world-wide.
How will these items be accomplished? I have written a preliminary plan that will be presented upon request after the election. I assure you that I am certainly not a "stroker" or someone who talks a whole lot and does nothing. Throughout my life I have been motivated by challenges. To take a great organization and improve upon what the forebearers have done is just about the greatest challenge of all. I look forward to any questions you may have. Wow! We used to do case races in college after final exams and was lucky to get 24 Jennie Pounders down in 6 hours before meeting my girfriend out at some Sorereity party.. Any one that pounds that many Millers has to live by their Man Laws so

My name is Mark Van Meter, TLCA 15080, and have been involved with the TLCA for a little over 2 years now starting out with a rare 82 Toyota Trekker and now a well built 73 FJ40 affectionately named “Plum Loco”. I am currently nominated for the Secretary position for the TLCA.
My background in off-road started as a kid in the early 80s driving farm equipment for my Uncle and Grandmother and was hooked on driving vehicles off-road at the early age of 10 years old.
Volunteer experience has included past President of the Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO) where myself and a core volunteer group were responsible for working with and maintaining State funded trails using techniques for erosion and use control taught by The International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA).I was an active competitor in Downhill MTB and had to eventually quit racing due to a 3rd class shoulder separation at NORBA Nationals in Big Bear, CA 1997.
I am a volunteer in Scottish Terrier Rescue assisting with placement in their forever homes and I also volunteer to W.E.Rock when they come to Columbus.
Currently serve as one of 3 Board Members for the Formula-Toy Rock Crawling Class and I am responsible for developing, maintaining and administrating http://www.formulatoy.org and helping to decide the direction for the class.
I hold an A.A.S. degree in Technical Communication and I am employed in the same capacity. I guess this means I can technically communicate.
My ambition for the Secretary position is to expand on Kowboy’s ongoing theme of PAR-TIC-IPATION by adding COMMUNICATION with the members of the TLCA by reaching out to them in as many ways as possible (TLCA Runs, Smaller Club Runs, The Internet, and any sort of direct communication) to spread my enthusiasm and interest in participating the club. The club cheerleader if you will (don’t worry, I won’t wear the outfit unless of course want to supply with me alcohol or pay me lots of $$) and hope to motivate others by example.
My wife, Rosa, & I have been married for 7 years and have a 3 year old daughter named Isabella along with 2 Huskies and a Pit Bull.
