So I have to get some new tires.

What size are stock?

And whats the best size for a DD on stock rims. I'm going to be getting some sort of AT Tread. I nead a good economical tire that has good wear and not a ton of road noise..

The stock tire was H-78 15 and most often a Dunlop Snowcruiser. roughly 28"

Ah I seached the 55 section not the 40 section since I thought they would have more info.

What was the original rim size?

I'm assuming a 15 inch rim?

yep, you have the originals on that 55 don't you........

also I have an origianl dunlop, tire from my 77. it's in good shape if you want it

I've been real happy with BFG 33x12.50x15 M/Ts on mine, with a 4" SUA lift, of course. ;p

Yeah well this will have no lift and I want a size tire that doesn't rub. thinking of a 30 or 31 x 10.5 x 15

What do you guys think?

go with skinnys, if you want the stock look............. those 31x 10.5 are what richard has on his FJ55

DO you remember if they rub?

richards, don't but he does have a slight shackle lift......... you won't be rubbing especially if you are using this as a DD

31's should fit just fine with no lift. How sagged are those springs Marshall? Mine are fairly sagged and they still arent close to rubbing. I think you should keep the stock skinny's too though they would be sweet on there with those stock rims keep it really original looking.

OK I think I will go with som 30 x 9.5 that will be close enough.

I have Pirelli Scorpions on mine. They seem to grab the road or trail nicely, in different conditions and are not noisy.

I ended up going with BFG KOs 235/75/r15s Still give it that stock look.
