Looking for recommendation for BFG KO2 285/75r17. Apologies if already mentioned I didn’t see it when I searched. Thanks!

First of all, BFG does not make an All Terrain T/A KO2 in size 285/75R17. Do you mean the LT285/75R17 121/118S Load Range E tire perhaps?

Second, are you putting these on an LC200 or an LX570?

Yes that’s the tire on a LC200. Thanks!

The RCTIP for the LT285/75R17 121/118S Load Range E BFG AT T/A KO2 tires on your LC200 is 37psi F/R.

Wow! Much lower than I have been running or would have guessed. Not good for my hydroplane threshold speed but I’m going to try 30psi. Thank you.

EDIT: Truthfully I thought @gaijin ‘s suggested 30PSI was nuts but he’s using science/engineering/math and is well respected here so I tried it.

1) I had not attempted less than 34psi cold. These tires are 51psi max and I tried as high as 45psi.
2) As much as I love the LX I was never more than marginally satisfied with the on-road chassis performance. The ride was obviously pretty good but a touch jiggly and the back end felt a bit odd. My 4Runner had a similar but less pronounced rear end oddness(slight difference right vs left turns. I know, it’s the way the live axle is mounted). Soft, normal and sport modes all helped at different times but something was still less than great.

With that as the background I just went for a ride to include backroads and about six miles of interstate. My desire to flip back and forth between normal and soft is gone. It finally drives like I had hoped it would when I was dreaming of buying an LX. The rear-end oddness is reduced too. I reset my mpg meter and on my quick loop it surprisingly returned a value easily within a tenth of what I would have expected at 37psi. I’m completely sold...

Once again math works. Thanks again gaigin for the huge improvement in my rigs driving dynamics.

@gaijin 2013 LX 570 with Rock Warriors running LT285/70R17 Load Range E BFG A/T T/A KO2 ? Currently running 41-42psi with just driver and minimal gear.

Once the base value is determined is there an incremental increase I can use as load weight increases, e.g., daily unloaded is probably 300lbs with driver and minor gear. If load increases to 500, then 1000, what would be the suggested change, if any?

Thanks for your expertise and time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that @gaijin will say "For any LT285/70R17 on your 2013 LX570, the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure is 35psi F/R".

But only because he's said it several times before in this thread.:flipoff2:

1. For the LT285/70R17 121/118Q Milestar Patagonia M/T tires on your 2008 LX570, the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure is 35psi F/R

Short answer is the RCTIP for LT285/70R17 on an LX570 is 35psi F/R.

Slightly longer answer:

OEM Load Limit for P285/50R20 @ 33psi = 2,315 Lbs

Since going to an LT-Metric tire from a P-Metric tire, 2315 / 1.1 = 2,105 Lbs

Required psi to reach 2,105 Lbs with an LT285/70R17 is 35psi.

Find Load/Inflation tables here for verification: Guidelines for the Application of Load and Inflation Tables

Sorry I missed your first post, but looks like @bryson has you covered.

Yes, the RCTIP for your LT285/70R17 tires on the LX570 is... wait for it... 35psi F/R. That pressure is good for all vehicle weights up to the GVWR.

Kind Gaijin,

Looking at snow tires for this winter. DMV2 265/70R18 116R. Everything seems copacetic. Can you recommend a tire pressure please?

Well... No.

I searched and found you are talking about a Bridgestone Blizzak DM V2 in ISO-Metric size 265/70R18 with a Load Index of 116.

Now all I need is the vehicle you're putting it on - LC200 or LX570? Nothing in your post and no sig to help me out. My service does not include searching through all your old posts to determine which vehicle you have. Let me know which, please?
