Tire master @gaijin I looked thru the thread and see different pressures for LT285/70r17
I just purchased some KM3s in LT285/70r17 for my '08LC, would you mind helping. Costco has 32/34 f/r on my invoice and have a feeling they may be low from what I've read thru.
Full spec: LT285/70r17/E 121/118Q

The different pressures are for LC200 and LX570.

If you have a LC200, the Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the LT285/70R17 tires is 40psi F/R. Same as in my sig ;)

So, yes, Costco has them underinflated at 32psi Front / 34psi Rear.

Thank you! Just saw your sing by turning my phone to landscape mode.
Also wanted to make sure in case tire compound affected tire pressure. Didn't want to assume all LT285/70R17 for LC would be the same

Good thinking! It never hurts to check.

Thank you very much. It is very kind what you do for all of us.

Yes it is.

As a member of the 35,000+ member 200 Series Owner FB page (yes there really are 35k+ 200 drivers on there)...I can tell you that most “recommendations” the whole world over are all over the map....and I’ve never seen the kind of precision we get from our PSI Nina :poof: Gaijin. Not anywhere else. Some of the manufacturers do publish complicated formulas...but they make my brain hurt!

Obviously we air down for trail conditions so there is wiggle room for soft sand, etc. but it’s almost funny to read how far off the street pressure recommendations are from random others for...without so much as a clarification. This tendency has NOTHING to do withAustralia. Just human nature. But I use the example because the numbers are so high and yet it’s still rare to see clear answers for this surprisingly odd set of numbers.

So I appreciatethe the highly specialized and faithful services of sir @gaijin.:cheers:

The folks in this forum really are an exceptional group.

Glad I can help.

Kind Gaijin,

Looking at snow tires for this winter. DMV2 265/70R18 116R. Everything seems copacetic. Can you recommend a tire pressure please?

@Teton TP I just put winter tires on our 200. Nokian hakkapeliitta R3 SUV in 285/60/18. So far very impressed. Haven’t subjected them to a severe storm yet but they are a very nice tire.

@gaijin Yok Geolander AT G015 SL 116 rated on a LC 200 series (285/60R18)

I’m currently running 40 PSI but unsure if that’s optimal

Thanks in advance

Rich.

40psi is definitely not optimal.

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the ISO-Metric Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 285/60R18 116H SL tires on your LC200 is 33psi F/R.

Enjoy the more comfortable ride ;)

Thanks Gaijin! How do you get this 33 PSI number? On the tires it says 50 max PSI - so 33PSI seems quite low. Won’t I lose some MPG from lowering them from 40 to 33 PSI? They seem comfortable enough already at 40 psi.

I'm wicked smart!

On the tires it says 50 max PSI - so 33PSI seems quite low.

On my tires it says 80 max psi - but 40psi is the correct pressure for our vehicles. One can not use the tire max psi to determine what is correct for any particular vehicle.

Won’t I lose some MPG from lowering them from 40 to 33 PSI? They seem comfortable enough already at 40 psi.

At 40psi you are overinflated. When overinflated, the area of the tire which is in contact with the road is reduced. This can result in uneven tire wear, longer braking distance and less control during emergency maneuvers. At 33psi vehicle performance is optimized. By overinflating your tires you may experience some minimal increase in gas mileage, but at a cost of reduced safety and vehicle handling - in my judgement that is not a good trade-off, but do as you please.

Finally it’s my turn. Just got Terra Grappler G2s on RW. 285/70 17, P Metric(I think). What is the recommended PSI for these?
Thanks in advance!

Nitto makes the Terra Grappler G2 in both ISO-Metric 285/70R17 116T and LT-Metric LT285/70R17 E 121/118S. They do not make a P-Metric P285/70R17 Terra Grappler G2. Please check the sidewalls of your tires carefully to determine which size you have.

If you have the ISO-Metric 285/70R17 116T tire:
The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure (RCTIP) for the 285/70R17 116T tires on your LC200 is 29psi F/R.

If you have the LT-Metric LT285/70R17 E 121/118S tire:
The RCTIP for the LT285/70R17 E 121/118S tires on your LC200 is 40psi F/R.
