after quite a while of missing out, I had a pb&j a couple weeks ago. damn, I forgot how good they are. had to make myself another one.

I think my wife's greatest realization was when she figured out that if you made it on a paper towel then there was no plate to wash. That started a summer of seeing what she could eat off of a towel. Yes, it eventually led to just using the counter as both a work and dining surface. And she's the mannered one.

We all know samwiches taste better when they are cut diagonally...

Maybe samwhiches taste better when they are cut diagonally because it reminds us of how our parents cut our samwhiches or at least mind did, and some how it seems more special thus in our minds taste better. That is just one hypothesis I came up with.

My other hypothesis centers around the fact that a diagonally cut samwhich is more visually appealing thus we think it taste better.

Crust on a samwhich in my opinion is acceptable if the crust is nice and soft like on home style potato bread. I am not a fan of tough crust but this is just by preference.

With peanut butter, strawberry preserves are my fav. Of course, the two spoons and no bread thing always works too.:hillbilly:

Justin, your momma cut your sammiches because you were to small to eat the whole thing. You're a grown up now, man up and chow down.:p

Okay so what kind of peanut butter does every like? I like Jiff crunchy natural.

Creamy Jiff with Planters dry roast salted nuts chopped up in it..... YES, I'm a DORK ;). Try it Marshall it's definitely a treat. YUM. Yeah, it takes a little effort but, I think the taste and CRUNCH is way better.

Jiff extra crunchy, but that DOES sound good.

For me, soft fresh bread is a must!

JIFF crunchy is good - long time favorite. Been leaning towards Peter Pan Honey lately but I can't find it in crunchy.

Pretzel sticks dipped in the honey peanut butter are the bomb. Even better if you coat the pretzels in melted chocolate, cool, then dip. Hmmm, hafta look into using large pretzel sticks instead of bread - one in peanut butter, one in jelly, eat both together.

Skippy natural with honey blended in.

The classic PBJ is composed thus;
  • Wonder Bread
  • Welches Grape Jelly (Smuckers is okay)
  • Jiff or Skippy Creamy
  • cut to your preference

I practically lived on PBJ's made with all store brand stuff for the first year after I moved away from home. It was a big step up getting brand name PB and Jelly.

Variations I like;
Peanut Butter and Fluff
Peanut butter and Bacon
Peanut Butter and Dill Pickle slices (you have to try this before you say it is gross)
Peanut Butter and banana

One thing I never liked was the grape and goober pre mixed stuff, the ratio of PB to J just doesn't seem right. I might give it another try now though.
