* Delicato California Shiraz ($16)

* Dtour Macon-Villages ($38)

* Black Box Monterey County Chardonnay ($18)

* Bandit Pinot Grigio ($10)

* Bandit Cabernet Sauvignon ($10)

We went and picked up a couple cases of wine yesterday from a couple of our more favorite local wineries. We had some futures and a couple winery "wine club" cases to grab.

mmmmmmmmmm....zinfandel...mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Aside from Montevina (which I personally think has gone downhill since Sutter bought them -- I recall you mentioned them earlier), have you had much wine from the Amador County area (Shenendoah, Plymouth, Fair Play, etc.). What are your thoughts? Any favorites?

We drank a bottle of Gary Farrell 2003 Pinot Noir from the Allen vineyard, Hillside block (Russian River) on Thanksgiving that was one of the best Pinot's I have had in a long, long time. Naturally I wish I would have bought a case when we were there a year and a half ago :frown:.

Humbug is up this week on woot. 6 $10 bottles of a blended red... I'm tempted to try it but I'm not sure of the blend. I'm a big syrah fan though...

Now we're talking!!! never heard of wine from HI. Love to try it.

I totally forgot to bring it! :doh:

I think it's better that I save it for Christmas anyway, since I am cooking and hosting that meal. :idea:

This is what it is:

This is where we got it:

I had opened the Maui Splash, and it was kinda Boone's Farm-like. ;p :gag:

Hopefully the framboise is better. Maybe I should pick up a little something else too, just in case it isn't.

The good news is...

Beaujolais Nouveaus are here.

Amen!

I've never had a good one. Seems like mostly hype to me....

meh...me neither.

always seemed like weak, watered-down, bad wine.

I live in the heart of wine country here in the Finger Lakes (NY).

Just curious if you've heard of any of the wines from here (preferences?) and how they stack up to other wines?

The Finger Lakes produce excellent rieslings. My wife and I roadtrip there every Memorial Day to stock up on whites for the summer. My favorites are Herman Wiemer and Hazlitt, both on Seneca Lake. Leidenfrost makes some very nice reds (also Seneca). There are some other good wineries on Keuka like Dr. Frank Constantine and Bully Hill.

Lucky person! You cannot go wrong with a RRV pinot. Of course, they tend to be $$$.

My wife and I shared a 2001 Williams-Selyem Allen Vineyard over the Thanksgiving weekend. Goddam it was good.:cheers:

Bump.

I just pulled the trigger on this week's http://wine.woot.com based mostly on the reviews in the woot forum. jsaltlick do you know the Noceto wines?

I haven't tried the Woot Cellars Humbug from a couple weeks ago yet. I'm going to let it settle well after its trip from California and will try it in a couple weeks. It's a blend from Kunde Cellars, btw...

A friend stopped by with this wine Friday night:

It was one of the best wine experiences I have ever had. Since I can't afford it, unless you have a connection:D, can you recommend a poor mans' wine that might be similar?

I used to drink good cabs and merlos when I had income. Now I have to save up for special bottles.

:cheers:
