Bump.

I just pulled the trigger on this week's http://wine.woot.com based mostly on the reviews in the woot forum. jsaltlick do you know the Noceto wines?

I haven't tried the Woot Cellars Humbug from a couple weeks ago yet. I'm going to let it settle well after its trip from California and will try it in a couple weeks. It's a blend from Kunde Cellars, btw...

Hey Yoop.

I know Nocetto.
It's a relatively new winery in the Amador County reagion -- near Montevina, Young, Story, and a few others.

I just picked up a case and a half of sangiovese -- the price on woot is pretty good.

We (my wife and I) treat it as our "every day" wine...pop the cork, have a couple glasses before and a couple glasses with dinner type of wine.

They have a Frivolo that's awesome, if you like a somewhat effervescent sweetish, white wine -- it goes great with spicy asian food...like Thai.

We still have a few cases of Folie a Deux Menage a Troi...left over from my sis-in-law's wedding. Here it's currently $6.99 a bottle at costco...

it's a very drinkable, everyday table wine, IMO.

Recently got back from a two week visit to Victoria, Australia. WOW, the wine industry there is huge. My best find: 1999 Yering Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Amazingly good, was about $35 Aus at the winery, haven't found it here yet. Everything was more expensive there, mostly due to GST, which is kind of like VAT in Europe and adds 10% to everything.

I want me some tasty reds and I might pull the trigger. I'm a fan of Syrahs but not so much Cabs. There is a new cab in there I've never tried though, I may pull the trigger and give it a shot though

I buy local and drink local.

SB? meh.

I think Target carries that here. I'll try it!

It was 9.99, so I just got one to try. If we like it I'll get more when it's on sale...

We didn't care for it. It was too young probably. 2005 or 2006 I forget.

I really like the Nocetto Reserve Sangiovese. Good stuff.

Opened a bottle of Jacob's Creek 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon tonight. Was on sale for $9 at the grocery store. Right out of the bottle it was too tight and too much tannins. After two hours sitting in the open bottle it has opened up and is quite enjoyable. I'm having some chicken with peanut curry with it and it's holding up nicely, a good pairing...

I will get another bottle or two while it's on sale I think. This one should cellar well for a couple years...

There's a little known winery in the same general area as Nocetto.

They have a very nice blend...they call it their jug wine...they put it in little 750ml wine jugs.
It's excellent. I'll have to get some to you.

The winery is Dobra Zemlja -- it's one of our favorites -- because of the wines and the people who own the place.

here's the label from one of the wine jugs -- it's a caricature of the winery owner (Milan), in a tutu holding a couple jugs of wine

Milan's cool.
