Cline makes great stuff. The started the "red Truck" label and just sold it off recently. They've been around a long time. The Seghesio one I mentioned is a bit tougher to find but gets 90+ points from WS every year and is always in the top 100 best wine list. It's generally about $12.

x2 on Seghesio. Classic zin.

The older vintages of Tapestry are amazing. I think they changed it up recently to a cheaper wine just a couple years ago. BV's cheap wines (coastal appelation) are junk. The high end reserve stuff like the tapestry and the dulcet are great.

The 1997 should be worth some $$$$! If you open one I'd love to hear how it's holding up and how it tastes. Great score on all those cases. Did you get them from a store or from a private sale??

Private sale...

I want to say the Tap and the Dulcet are 2000 vintage....

ended up paying $24/bottle - averaged out......$864 total

I could sell half the case of Silver Oak and come out ahead..

NZ has really interesting and different style of pinot. They are rare but try to find ones from the far souther Otago region. It's colder there but the sun stays up longer. This stresses the grapes and makes for a long growing season. Dynamite stuff.

I Drank a Whole bottle of [yellow tail Shiraz] this Saturday night enjoying the view of five beautiful blond Swedish babes in the Hot Springs Nekked,
I don't think the wine was the best part .....

I do not know if this qualifies as a wine review or just makes me a pervert......

I just remember it was all good. :grinpimp:

When I drink wine I am fine for the first glass, but into the second I become flushed and get an immediate headache…red really hurts….What wine will not do this and why does this happen. Someone said I am allergic to the tannins (spelling). I love wine, but the pay off is not fun…

This thread rocks and my wife thinks your hot! Dunbar

Since you are versed in wines from Spain can you recommend a good Spanish Albarino? We were turned on to this grape/wine a number of years ago when we ordered a Havens Albarino (Napa); they brought plants back from Spain and planted in Napa. They do a very good job with Albarino. But always looking for something special.

Thanks,
Dan

Swedish Good. Yellow Tail bad.

I get flushed too. I'm mostly Irish and if I shave in the morning my face lights up beet red after the second glass. Alcohol thins your blood out so it rises to the surface of your skin. Not really a big deal. The headaches might be allergies to the histamines in the wine rather than the sulfites.

Albarino is the hottest s*** grape in Spain. Try Laxas or there is one called Burgan's or some thing like that (green label and looks Irish) I have an albarino called Castel de Bouza that I import that was rated #1 in all of Spain for all white wines by Vivir El Vino Magazine. Good luck finding it though. Sales have been slow as of late due to the Euro and her whorish ways......
Albarino....tough to find a bad one......

THANKSGIVING PICKS!!!!!!!! Don't buy Beaujolais Nouveau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKSGIVING WINE PICKS!!!!!

Well T-day has finally arrived. A historically long ass day with relatives you can barely stand to be around even though you only see them twice a year. The solution......alcohol!!!!!!! The cause of and solution to all of life's problems......

Turkey is some good eats. Stuffing, potatoes, and cranberries are even better. Let's pick some good wines that will help get us through the gastric terrorism that is my mother's cooking:

Pinot Noir- Everyone drinks it cuz of that stupid Sideways movie but it's great s*** and goes with everything. The CA, NZ, and OR pinot noirs have great structure with a very faint touch of sweetness. This matches well with all the different types of tastes that happen on the adult's table. Burgundy is good but the mushroomy and earthy edges are a bit much for me with all the root veggies and brown gravy. Go for something in the $15 range from the US or NZ and you can't go wrong.

RIESLING!!!!- Gotta have a white wine to go with the red wine. Find something from Alsace (France) instead of Germany. German riesling is great but the sweetness might be a bit much and overpower the foods. Alsatian riesling's are dry and match well with everything on the table. If you feel adventurous also buy a gerwurtztraminer. Excellent stuff.

DO NOT BUY BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This crap is the biggest scam of all time. This is junk wine made from s***ty grapes and doesn't match well with ANYTHING. It's a scam just like Valentines Day. It was invented by the French and serves no purpose. Some A-hole people actually get this crap overnighted from the winery the day it is released so they can be the first ones to have it. Honestly, buy box wine instead. it'll taste better and probably match better with the food. Beaujolais Nouveau is garbage. If you insist on Beaujolais you must spend at least $20 to get anything remotely good. DON"T WASTE YOUR $$$$$$$!!!!!!! Find better stuff to buy and get something interesting for christsake!!!!

I've bought a bottle of MacMurray Pinot Noir, a bottle of Crossroads Pinot Noir from New Zealand, a bottle of 1991 Josmeyer "samain" riesling, and a bottle of Villa Mt Eden cabernet (for guzzling) That should get me past my crazy aunt and blind uncle's uncomfortably long blessing before we eat.

Get creative and find some good shizz to drink this holiday. Find a good wine shop near you and it'll make the suffering that is the annual Thanksgiving day Dallas Cowboy's game remotely tolerable. (Go Patriots btw)

That is all.
