Your leather couch? ;) Seriously, I have no idea.

Your leather couch? ;)

although you are 100% correct, i am somewhat disturbed by the fact that you recognize my couch. :D:D

I'm just going to toss out a wild guess and say that's on the way to Clear Creek, the one that washes out every year, or used to anyways.

its actually a very hard one and the crapy pic doesnt help either so here are some hints.

the pic is taken from the seat of the truck so that means you can drive right in front of it. also you dont get to see this spot all frozzen very often as its usually snowed in and you cant drive to it. oh and the water fall is normaly twice the size when its not frozen.

Damm. that was easy. i'll come up with another one.:D

ps. just figured out what WAG stands for. :D

ok here is another one. hard one actually. squamish area. i was discusing this with Geroge two weeks ago so hope he checks it out.

Nice pic, I was just there... But at the bridge just a mile before. Love that area!

Being a train guy I am jealous of that shot from 93... Those were the days! I won't bore you guys and explain lol

I'll guess upper hut and cheakamus canyon. Nice truck.

Any pics of when guys would ford cheakamus going to starvation lake? Wish I got into wheeling sooner before some of those old trails were shut down. Remember reading about them in the backroad companion book. Didn't have a 4x4 yet but still the books inspired me to get out exploring..

thanks. hey is that the same track? here is another pic a week later but with the train on it. LOL. sorry for the crapy pics. i guess i should pull out the scanner instead of the camera phone.

if you like trains, you must see the spot where the two tracks cross each other in the fraser canyon right over the river. to me it looks like one company build the first track and at some point they decided to cross the river and run on the west side instead of the east side. later on another company started to build their tracks but this time the build on the west side and then crossed at the point to the east side over the other track (or vise versa, cant remember). there is a spot where you get right on top and see the whole view. i was out there this summer with john and im pretty sure he took some pics but if i were you, dont check out any pics. just go there as the element of surprise is well worth it.

haha. man you are almost too good for this.

the pics overlooking the two lakes is in fact view of the two upper hut lakes (twin lakes).

the train pics is the taken at the north trail on the way out of starvation lake. you can actually see the highway on the top right corner.

the pics of the volcanic rock is in the bowl at brohm ridge area.

oh btw, when you follow paradise valley on the way to starvation on the south end, you do not cross the river. however if you do, you will end up on another trail on the other side which leads to butterfly lake. i'll see if i have any pics of that trail.

You can't get into starvation by truck anymore, there is a "sea to sky trail" that was built and the crossing was taken out by BC Rail years ago before CN took over. In the shot I posted at the south end the rock has eroded away and you have to walk across the slide fence to get to where I shot. Tmax, yup I know it all too well, it's called Cisco http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=266975&nseq=21

oh cool. thanks for the link. i would have never known the name otherwise. LOL

interesting enough, they do not show a top view pic where you can see the whole thing. maybe we can bug john to post it up even though its not an old pic. belive it or not, i've been meaning to buy a wide lens just to take a good shot of that spot.

as for starvation, its always been a touch and go. even 25 years ago. are all three ways to get in blocked?

As recently as a few years ago the highway entrance had a gate with an easy bypass… I’ve been told that they’ve since re-enforced the bypass…

Third way?

BTW nice pics everyone

thanks. the three ways to get in are from north, south and east side.

you get in from the south side by following paradise valley road. after heading away from the river for a short distance, you will have to cross the train tracks and the lake is pretty much right after that point. i think it was blocked by the rail people becuase they didnt like trucks crossing the tracks.

the east side is the one that i assume has the gate that you are talking about.

the north way is well the trail out that leads to the other side of the cement barriers by the highway and eventually to the little rest spot. there is a nice slide here and i have heard thats its only a path now.

the last time i was at starvation was probably in 1995 so anything could have happned since.

i think i have pull the trigger and get that 10-24 lens. LOL

the view i'm talking about is from the top of the hill on the west side. you can see gong show of rail system. sort of like a google earth image (hint hint)

The starvation is not doable as of this year only . The first entrance to go was the north end when they widened the road they moved the barriers over a bit to the bank ,along with the yearly bank sluffing you couldn't even ride the barrier on two wheels, and the spot right above the train bridge was serious pucker even with a long plank. They lower train track deactivation finnaly got done real good a few years ago. The coyote entrance off the highway was always able to seek around, but not this year. Hut lakes ,am I to late.;) Christian I'm going to check the cruiser on the tracks to see if its a tracker, if so the kettle valley is all you need , all be it in reverse.

Not "olde" but topical. We may have been the last to get in.
