I barely remember this too. I had it in my head that this would be easy and it really, really wasn't. Probably still had open diffs and 3.7:1 gears. Had to be rescued by an excavator if I remember right.

Okay. Found some treasure, today. Both the tapes and a photo of the videographer (Eric Delisle)

. Now I really need to find someone to digitize this stuff. Gary, Phil, John Barron, Russ, Steve, Rob Mullen and others will be on this, I’m sure.

This is my Dad's friend Bert out with him and the '80 BJ40 on a hunting trip. This truck would eventually become my first vehicle when I was 16 and got my driver's license. It was never this nice when I was driving it, most of the tub had rotted away and was patched with galvanized sheet metal attached with screws which was painted a lighter green for a really nasty two tone effect. It still ran with a huge dent in the oil pan when I traded it for a $1000 off the price of the bodywork on my wagon.

Bert? Looks like @kim KIm Reeves. bah old memory is old...apparently I already told this joke and cant delete it

I have a hi8 tape around here that would probably be a better place to start. Need to find someone who could digitize it and edit the wind noise.
Any progress?

Time for me to join in. These are photos from around '84-'86. The FJ55 was purchased in 1983 and traded in on the HJ60 in '88. My Dad really wanted a 4x4, and the FJ55 came available at an opportune time - it was 5 years old with only 17,000 miles, and priced fair to boot! Brings back great memories of hunting with my Dad and brothers, and family friends. I've kept the 8274 and custom-made winch bumper on my 'HJ62', so the memory of the Iron Pig is strong.

I think…1997, maybe. Alberta Crew with my brown ‘73 FJ40. Scott and Bruce with ‘74 FJ40 and BJ70 & Peter’s BJ60. Just digging and throwing away old memories today. Didn’t even know I had these.
