mudgudgeon, can you tell me if the zexel pin is the same diameter as the denso one in the hdt? Sure look same same! Can buy them for 65 bucks if so, best ive seen around.

The one I was playing with was the same. Would be a straight swap.

I believe there may be different ones but can't remember

I emailed the guy asking the same thing, he responded within five minutes at 11.30 last night?! He says Nissan only used the one profile and it is eccentric and does drop straight in to the toyota pumps. He then said he has used them tuning 1HDT's many times successfully.
Theyre heardened thru so will take a grind no problem. I dunno if he has them made or if theyre genuine parts, but if he does make them, at 65 bucks plus 10 post, i wonder if he would do some plain ones for guys to mess with themselves. Ill find out, im sure there would be interest here.

OK just looked at the ad again, theyre genuine pins.

So the nissan zexel pin arrived yesterday and i began playing with settings. Straight away they have a groove around the top of the lower flat section, so the governor pin wont go below that lip hence you have to set the off boost height to have the governor pin right at the edge of the start of the slope.
So i messed with the height, set it at its richest and went for a strap. For my particlular setup on my truck, its the hardest its gone down low. The building boost part of the sweep is incredible. Granted its rich there, but its before much air is moving and leans out as boost comes on. Im getting a solid 20-22afr foot down right thru to higher revs and highway cruising feels really good overtaking.
Best 65 bucks ive spent this week :) WOnt be doing any more tuning now till i get the cooler built. I dont need any more power than its making, only gonna cool it for its health.

The guy i bought it from was really good to deal with, very helpful with some tuning tips as well. I'd shoot him an email, his contact is on that link above. I'd bet he would post one out.

I stay in cape town, south africa.
most suppliers from Oz ship with the australian post and than it ends up here at the south african post service which is totally useless and slow
Zexel / nissan parts are available here too.
If I would get a part number than I can order locally

It was a punt for me. Its a different design to what the toyotas use. But having heard from a real person who has used them, and given theyre not reaching deep in your pocket like anything toyota is, i gave it a shot. The compensator i had was off a pump i bought used. Sposed to be rebuilt. I have not got to trying it yet and just stole the compensator. It is not an eccentric pin like all the hdt pins i see. Leads me to think it was a high altitude comp. Tho i have not seen what their pins look like.
All i can say is ive tried 3 different grinds, and had really wide results, some amazing. I decided the Holset was making a bit much boost tho for my yet to me cooled setup, so reducing boost and retuning, the other pin was back to stock angle.
This zexel pin has taken it to another level. Albeit at lower boost, im making better power actually than the best tune i had with higher boost. BUT its obviously all super dependant on your own motors setup. I took a punt on this pin as it was worth a case of beer. And its flavour turned out well!

Im jealous! Just a 1HZ here. It had a DTS, local turbo guys, TD05 turbo conversion from 20 years ago. The turbo was renewed 17 years ago and has done 100k in that time. After much researching, and seeing the 10cm housing of the old turbo was way wrong, i decided on the Holset HX30 super. I was in the queue for having mine modified, 6cm housing and bigger compressor but the Holset won the task. And im really happy with it. It is BIG, i had to machine out about 6mm along the engine mount as the waste gate was fouling it, but otherwise went in pretty easy. Maybe one day it will get a HDT variant, but for now ive accomplished my task which was getting it to hold hills on the highway. Im building an intercooler for it now and also doing the exhaust, so everything should move in the right direction soon enough.
Its also getting a re paint and new colour so ill have to change my name from shrek to some other green name :) or use my own. Don

Machine shop finished my aneroid pin. Works great so far. Multiple ramps on it and tested for correct hardness.

Hi, it actually would be great when one day someone found a good setup of modificaion and technical details (drawing) of an LDA rod
to post the results and infos here as a summary.

Post a clear pic of one from a couple of feet range, it's easy to scale it and put some measurements to it

Edit

Scrolled back to the LDA rod. Not a fan.
I'd like to see a clearer pic of the eclipse pin taken at 90degrees from the side to side the profile so it isn't distorted
