So in pakistan, when they install weather stripping at the bottom of a windscreen and it is old and crusty, they hold it down with drywall screws.

When labour is cheaper than foam for the kick vents, they actually manufacture the gaskets out of floor mat rubber rather than buying the six dollar foam from toyota.

I also found a very good use for the pakistani passenger seat.

I was meaning to ask if you were planning to sell those seats!
I'm actually pretty interested to drive this when we're done with it, I am debating going RHD (and +8/80 cabin) with my FJ45 project, I've only driven one RHD 40 series before and it was HJ47 and it was pretty brief

You wouldn't have wanted the old seats. They were over-stuffed with old prayer rugs or goat blankets or something which smelled of wet wool and faintly of body odour.

I love RHD for wheeling, especially in the US. Passengers here seem to pay more attention when sitting on the left side of the car when wheeling, so being on the right has added benefits. Plus RHD is just cool. 😉

@mdsims the truck is located in florida. I've actually finally got the door sorted I think and I'm just waiting for the window runner channel.

Yes, the later model doors are the same for both vent and non-vent. The non-vent doors even have the holes to hold the vent window assembly. Many years ago when I was still in Australia, I sent probanly half a dozen sets of vent window guts to the US for people to put into 40 series doors here.

Busy week but made a point to get the window channel out this week. Should arrived next week by Thursday.
Might get lucky and have my parts including a set of door off any HJ47RP.

Couple people who helped handle them said the driver's needs rust repair. Passenger they say is in amazing shape. Have a good LHD passenger could use but missing one detail would be very hard to find in the US.

Also has the late interior door pulls which I consider a huge upgrade. Same as the 70 series except black not grey or brown.

And they are '81-'84 doors, which is a huge plus. You've got the better mounts for the window sweepers AND the bump for the dome light pin. Add to that the vent windows and the factory bolt for the door limiter and you've got a winner.

Thank you for sending that channel so quickly John. I'm very grateful.

These are 11/83 plus door because of the interior door pulls. The ambulance door also got one at the same time. It relocated lower than previous years. The interior panels are obviously aftermarket. The handle cover is from an LX model. This may be one I bought from you. I have a couple.

These ambulance doors came off a wrecked troopy from Australia. Cruiser was either 5/84 or 6/84. That troopy also had some other goodies hard to find here.

Does anyone happen to have the length for the metal tubes which go between the dash and the windscreen which prevent over tightening the window against the gasket with the knob screws on the dash?

Mine was missing both (of course) but I found a pipe which should work if I can find the length it needs to be cut.

Update: Looking around Mud, I found 1.5" long. Love this site.

Thanks

I was not aware of the dome light bump. I have the bump, but no switch! What does the switch look like on the tub?

Dome light that operated off a switch on the A pillar is different. It requires second wire going thru the windshield frame then across the door header. The dome light has a three position switch not just two.
I found a couple pictures with mount for the A pillar switch. Switch itself was used on other Toyotas.

My NAS '83 FJ40 and all of my Aussie '81 and newer 40 series also have a dome light cut-out on both B pillars with the passenger-side one covered by a plastic blanking plate. Interestingly, the Paki Pig only has a cut-out on the right and no pin mount on the A pillar (though it does have the door-side bump) despite being an Aug '82.

On every 40/47 I've owned I've taken great joy in running a wire around to the passenger side (right or left) and adding a second 3-position dome light. I've also always added a second grab handle on the passenger side of the roof..... because I'm kinda OCD.

Got those panels from this member @a1500ram This was summer 2019. About the same time I got the LX handle cover from. Found that conversation too.
Just ordered a set of tobacco brown front and rear door cards. Perfect. Thank you.

Just sitting in my back yard having a cigar and looking at my sliderless top. It occurs to me that this top is really the reason I bought the Paki Pig.

I've always wanted a factory hard top 43; or have since I first saw one in a black and white Spector catalog in about 1989 (my buddies liked Playboys, I was partial to Spector catalogs). My angel was still a centrefold, just a different one than J Geiles had in mind.

I should have jumped on that red BJ46 in hindsight @Mike Shull but the rust scared me off. Overall though it might have been an easier fix than this one has proven to be I think; and a lot cheaper. Ain't hindsight a beotch?

That is an awesome top, and when you’re done with it, after a while, all these heartaches will be long forgotten in the rearview mirror. And you’ll know what you rescued.

OCD temporarily satiated. Thank you @cruisermatt

Window runners mostly in. Just waiting for the inner channel for the driver's side.

I still feel a bit like I'm painting the sash on a burning barn.... but getting there.

New reflectors installed.

Quiz: how do they install Chinesium reflectors in Pakistan?

Who guessed " with a drywall screw siliconed into a machine screw"? You are correct.
