So it turns out that the window felt that @cityracer racer sells is not actually correct for the '75-'84 40 series with factory vent windows. It appears , they don't actually make the window channel felt for these doors.

Does anyone know of anyone that makes such a thing @cruisermatt ? I have purchased them in the past from the toyota dealer in Australia, but I doubt toyota still makes them.

Having issues with City Racer is slightly frustrating as they will not speak with you on the phone , and so you wind up in these long, convoluted email chains doing what could be solved with a quick phone call.

I've attached a couple pictures of the window channel felt, which they say is correct for this vehicle (though is far too small to fit), and next to it you can see the factory felt which i've removed , they bear no resemblance.

Can I still buy the NAS 40 series window channel felt? I think I can get that to work.

I beileve I can get all it new OEM, and might even have some of it in stock

I have a pair of the outers here, OEM, the inners are available but I don’t have them on hand, I put a set on order for you though Josh. They were not super expensive :)

I have those sweepers @cruisermatt, thank you though. I'm after the channel felt which goes in the door and in which the window slides. It goes up, across the top and down the aft side of the vent widow frame. It's what keeps the window from rattling when it's up (see pic with my finger). Can we get that? Sorry for the confusion Matt.

On a positive note, it's starting to feel more like my Cruiser though: every car I've had since I was in college has had a steal your face sticker.... just didn't feel right without it.

Tint turned out nice, new weather stripping I bought before I got the 43 fits well. Still waiting for the slider frames to be powder coated.

Also installed the new Toyota door latches (Chinesium on left). MUCH better.

Next step is to pull the roof off (please Lord, don't let it be glued on with silicon) and install all the weatherstrip. I may do the raptor line while I've got it off, though I had wanted to wait until Matt is done with it.

And installed the new rear door latch and lock mechanism I got before I got the 43. BIG improvement.

Very frustrating doing much of this as it's all put together with Torx, 11mm, 13mm, 9mm, etc bolts (many of which are too long and cause issues). I'm correcting what I can, but I'm going to have @cruisermatt swap in as many correct toyota bolts/screws as he can when he has it.

Yes, I should have that in stock OE, I believe we cut down the non-vent version since it's longer

Gotta love it…

Yes, that's what I did on my Hj47 back in the day: cut down the non-vent channel. If you do have them in stock, could you please send me a set of those along with the three (3) 69685-12010 lock cyl pads I emailed you about? I'd love to get those asap so I can finish the doors. Thanks!

Looks like SOR has them, so I can get them if you haven't got any. But I'd rather get them from you. Just let me know.

Perhaps nothing sums up a Pakistani 'restoration' or this entire 43 better than these jack accessories: the jack bracket was re-welded in the wrong place (thus the jack base no longer fits- luckily I had a spare from an Aussie 40 I parted 20+ years ago) and painted. The jack handle mounts both have broken top clips. Yet both were poorly painted and re-installed.... broken.

The transmission top cover is for an H41, and thus rubs on the top loader. I'll leave it to @cruisermatt to fabricate a top cover from mine and come up with a better transfer case shifter.

Missed out on the jack handle clips off the wrecked 84 HJ47RV years ago. It also had the clips for handle to lower the spare tyre.

Few years back I started collecting shifters, boots and inspection covers for H55F conversion into a 40 series. 4/85-7/87 FJ62 inspection cover, boots and transfer shifter. For the transmission shift came would go with a 70.series for the H55F. Because not using a 3F bellhousing not sure if the 60 or 70 series RHD would be a better fit.

Those are things of beauty! My Hj47, my 83 NAS FJ40 (I put brand new H55s in both) and my LX had those: very nice setup and great shifing position. Way better than the 60 series top loader can ever be.

@Living in the Past this is just so cool. Your enthusiasm screams out. I knew vintage motorcycle collectors with eclectic parts from stuff no longer even made…these guys were like you… much respect !!!

Well , as to be expected with this pakistani pig , the window channel has come back from the blasters and the rust shot through.

I've told them to powder coat anyway and see how it looks when it's done.... but I need to find a new slider window frame. In australia , I would have no trouble at all finding one , but here in america that could be like finding rocking horse manure.

I'm rapidly growing to dislike this 43..... serves me right for buying a third world cruiser, i ought to have known better.

Sorry @Chamba as I said earlier ….it’s inconceivable knowing how many times I had watched your comments on BAT or other selling sites regarding Land Cruisers. My thinking is that this guy knows some of the coolest details of a great build and cool truck. As you know so many comments are just “air”. After about a year, I messaged you and we exchanged so many fun stories and photos from the last 4 decades.

Every time I see a new post from you it makes me shudder wondering what you’ve unearthed. Knowing what I know about you’re wants and needs in a truck….and who you are, just makes me feel so gut-punched with each post. The only clairvoyance I can offer you is that when your 43 is ready to run, it will be so showroom fresh that much of the detritus of the past discoveries will wash away within the first few minutes.

Should you ever decide you’re moving on from it… the pride going with the next owner will be uplifting knowing you’re passing along a truly valued steed of the past easily and more capable than any modern road warrior. While this should have been your initial experience, it still there….only later
Still looking for you in Trenton 😎

Hey Charlie,
You are absolutely correct. I have gotten so many great thoughts from members here, yourself included. My updated 40 is likely 60% better than she was in June of 1975 when someone drove it off the lot ! For people that have other obligations to share the how and why of doing something …it’s pure dedication and enjoyment

If they haven’t coated that yet, it’s a quick fix at the welder….

I think it's too thin there. It could be braised in sure but I just don't have time to hunt down someone to do that. It'll have to do until i get another frame when we're back in Australia in July.

I'm still trying to find an inner door window channel runner which the Paki Krew forgot to reinstall
