Yea heard that, my friends are trying to get me to go camping all weekend... My rig isn't ready yet... Gotta do a flush on the Trans and put in an aux Trans cooler (your lucky to have a manual), not to mention spark plugs a new cap and rotor and spark plug wires... That's gonna be some work... I'll be sure to document it for my thread I'm starting too... I've been going over designs for these rear panels in my head.... How are you going to round the edges? Sand paper? Lol that'll be some work... I guess I'll pick up some MDF and make some cuts as well.... See where that takes me and all!

I look forward to seeing the work your doing on your rig. As for the rounding the corners, just cut them close with the jig saw and use an electric sander to get them to the final shape, this stuff sands away real quick.

A big thanks to Sethro60 for sending me his old dash cover,... for free! Got here a few days ago, just haven't had a chance to upload a pic yet. I think it really finishes off the look of my un-finished interior. :flipoff2:

And the picture on the box was nice touch.

Oh and the wheelwell covers fit perfectly fine over the QuietCrap, so there is no need for me to make new ones.
I'm going snowboarding tomorrow, so there isn't going to be any more progress this weekend, but I did get the middle area padding cut and carpet in on Friday, so I'm getting close to the end of this project! :D

That dash pad looks real nice on your rig man ;) I can't wait to hear how that quite crap sounds... That sentence seemed a little ironic...

Inspirational Thread!

The End Is Near!

I spent my St. Patrick's day making a replacement for the old worn out and sand saturated cargo area carpet, and I think it turned out pretty good! I also used more of the carpet padding I used in the front in the back so its more comfortable to sleep on.

Tomorrow I am going to try to get the panels to the point where I can upholster them with whats left of the carpet. I cant wait to have everything put back together again, it starts to get annoying not having half an interior in your daily driver.

Now,... time to go eat some corned beef and cabbage! :D

That carpet looks GREAT man!!! I can't wait to see your panels!

Your tranny's the 4 speed, right? I kept forgetting to ask if you wanted me to watch out for a 4-spd knob unless you're intent on a 5-spd swap down the road.

Yeah its the 4 speed, and I won't be able to afford a 5 speed for a few years, so if you see one let me know.

Carpet looks good. I like the extra padding idea too. My cruiser serves hotel duty from time to time, so anything I can do to make it more comfortable should get me some brownie points with the :princess:

Looking good dude, keep up the good work. This is the same stuff that you bought from Lowe's/Home Depot that you used for carpet correct? How hard was it to get everything measured and to fit right?

And it might be worth while to replace the original panels unless they are in good condition. I know there are more than a few guys that have used 1/4" or 1/2" plywood sheet to replace the panels with now issue and it looks great.

Yeah I bought this stuff at home depot, and as fas as measuring goes, all I did was lay the old carpet on top, traced it with sharpie, cut it out, then trimmed as necessary when it was in the truck.

I am making new panels, see the bottom of page 3 for the details on that. I just cut one of the holes for the speakers today, so I'm almost done, just have to do the other speaker hole on the other side and make a door for the jack and stuff.

Looking real good. That's a lot of work to tear down that far

I thought it would be at first too, but when it comes down to it, its just a few screws and a little tugging. I spent more time cleaning and laying down the Quietcrap than I did removing everything.

I think this project was totally worth the effort seeing that now it seems like my engine is soooo quiet when idling. I also like the fact that I will now have a decent padding to sleep on when I go camping.

In other news, I just sold my mountain bike tonight for 1.6k, so I'm going to go buy a new camera tomorrow. So from here on out there are going to be much higher quality photos and a lot more poser shots! :flipoff2:

The guy that bought it is a helicopter pilot at Moffett Federal Airfield, pretty cool to know the bike is going to the type of person that is going to take good care of it.

Man,... looking at this pic is making me reminisce about all the good times I had riding with friends over the last 2 years. A lot of good memories riding this thing, and made a lot of really good friends in the process..... what a great two years!

:crybaby: sad to see it go.....

Some day i'll return to biking.... some day....

SR Welded and Bumper Back On

I worked with my friend in the welding class at my vocational school on Thursday and Friday to get the shackle reversal welded up, and today I finished working on the bumper brackets, and mounted the bumper for the first time since the previous owner put the lift on the truck.

In order to get the bumper bolts to line up with the holes in the brackets I had to make them into an oblong shape. In cases like this, its rare for me to have the right tool for the job, and this was no exception. What I ended up doing was drilling a small hole, then using a drill close to the correct size and fileing the crap out of it with a round file to bring it to the final shape. When that was done I cleaned the area up with some degreaser and a few shots of compressed air. A few coats of flat black paint later and it was ready to put the bumper back on.

A quick polish of the front bumper's chrome, and a scrub with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and a splash of Armor All for the plastic end caps, and I was done.

Here are some pics. (From my new camera! :D)

One of the welds. It rained last night so its got a little surface rust on it.

Metal Slug had his lower jaw attached again!

I'm going to make more of an effort to get a job this month, and if I succeed, I'm going to by myself a pair of Hella 700FF driving lights to mount on the bumper.:wrench:

Great bike and sad to see that you let it go. However, keep it as a priority and you will return to it later in life. I am loving my 29er and so sad to have seen her just hanging in the rafters in the garage because the weather and other family crap have kept me from riding her in the hills.

Now that the days are actually getting longer, and if the wind permits, I am going to have to get my ass on the saddle and get up in the hills.
A little stoke for you!!

Soon there will be a pic of her with a Tan 60 in the background.. Soon my precious, sooooonn....
