Next arrive in the mail was a crystal lamp kit, which would replace the faded original lamps. Easy enough to install, but I’m a little dubious about their quality...

Time will tell, but I figure Mr T will be getting a call for some OEM parts eventually

The Grief of Losing a Dog.

Man, these photos hurt. This is Järvi (Finnish for “Lake”) my 2 year old Border Collie. She was my best mate, and went everywhere with me in her two years. These photos were a few months prior to her passing, but I’ve only got round to posting them now afterlosing her back in March this year.

Looking back on these photos are incredibly hard but beautiful at the same time.

Any of you who have felt the pain of losing your dog will know exactly how I’ve felt.

Went for a day out around Banks Peninsula, which is just near Christchurch. Formed by volcanic activity, it is a myriad of bays, harbors, dirt roads, farmland, and native bush.

(as per previous post, these photos are from earlier this year, and therefore feature Järvi, my border collie who passed tragically back in March. I know she will love knowing people are seeing her adventures!)

Some recent shots. A nice wee addition from Sackwear suits the interior. Don’t like my orange recovery tracks, so I’ll hunt out a more subtle colour…black or tan?

Had a couple of days off work so I headed south to Mt Cook National Park.

Have any of you been there?

I stay at a mountaineering club lodge, which is basic but very comfortable. Its cheap, makes for a great base to explore from, and there are always some good people there to meet and chat away to. Near floor to ceiling windows frame the Tasman valley, and with the fire roaring, a drink I hand and some good company, it’s truly hard to beat.

She scrubs up okay for a ’93 old gal with some stories to tell.

Okay, next on the trip list: opening weekend of the fishing season.

Each year my dad and I join some buddies down at a spot called Lake Alexandrina, in the Mackenzie Country near Tekapo. The weekend is the opening of the fishing season - a big event in our calendar!

There is a famous bakery on the way, The Fairlie Bakehouse, who make exceptionally good pies. Its often so busy that queues will be way out the door (not bad for a tiny rural town).

Loving this series, dude, and I feel your pain, although at least i got 15 and 13 years with my two: lost last one in August.

Although we love our cruisers, the 4 legged ones are even closer to our hearts. ❤️

Cheers to Jarvi! 🍻

Thank you mate, I appreciate your words. Cheers to your ones too, let’s hope they’re talking Land Cruisers up there!

Finally a Cruiser that flexes a little. I’ve been used to rolling around in leaf sprung Cruisers for a bit now, and man it’s nice to be back on the coils.

Surely in time these Prados are going to be the most sought after model, being the only 70 shape with coils all-round, and a few nice mod cons like sunroofs (on some), diff locks, power windows etc.

Went for a drive up to the Ashburton Lakes, approximately 1.5hrs southwest of Christchurch (where I live). Took Järvi, my dog, and just enjoyed a nice day out.

One of the things I just love is heading to a place off the grid, with just the sounds nature, and boiling a strong coffee. Just sitting, sipping, and taking it all in. Beautiful.

Today I fitted a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. If you go on their website and click “fit my vehicle” they list two sizes. I went the smaller one as I have a sunroof and still wanted to utilise as much of that as I could. Rhino Rack also list the legs as RL150, but opted for a more “low profile“ look and went with the RL110’s and added a 10mm spacer.

Very happy.
