My buddy let me purchase a couple of seat clamps. These things are getting hard to find

Aight. Done with this thing for the weekend. Headed out of town with my family.

Last items of the day .... visors

Moved the seat back a few inches for max leg room

Got back after lunch and had a header here from EBay. New offering from a company in Chico. $350 shipped and stainless. Very nice.

One problem though, the #4 tube hits the intake and I had to clearance the intake. I think this outfit is new. I sent them feedback. It's a damn nice header for the price.

Set the valves. They were pretty close. Had to loosen two. The others were spot on.

Fresh powdered intake and valve cover installed

Was the flange thickness correct on the header vs intake manifold?
That was something that has driven me crazy on all the headers I worked on in the past, they were always thinner than the intake and required washers or welding.

Yes. Nice fit up top. Remflex gasket will solve almost any woes though.

Is a header preferred over factory manifold?

I prefer them mainly because you are getting rid of a couple of gaskets I don't care for. The intake to exhaust and the donut.

Late model ones have a bigger downpipe and flow pretty good but the early ones are pretty restrictive IMO.

The main issue with this one was the intake was cracked and the exhaust manifold was pretty sketchy. I'll reinstall a clean one but if I have to spend any money one then I usually just toss them for a header.

This sucks to have to do but there was a jingle jingle sound in the clutch that I needed to investigate.

It looks like cheap Chinese clutch parts from Napa. I think a nice new Aisin kit will fix any issue that was there.

Nothing fun to report today except I got the trans/transfer back in. Lots of moving parts with the linkage and such. Added a double seal Tcase Speedo housing from @orangefj45

@Fourrunner sent me some HD battery cables.

More parts are inbound.

@OGBeno loves when I tell on myself for doing stupid stuff so here goes....

This is a 1970 with H42 and an early 3 speed case.

The 3 speed trucks have the torque tube a bit forward of the later trucks so to remove or install the parking brake drum you have to drop the rear of the motor to install it.

I had to drop the rear to get it out of the truck so I had it all reinstalled nicely with the TCase linkage and clutch master and driveshafts when I realized I had forgotten to add the parking brake drum.

All had to come back apart to lower the motor 3"

😂🤡🔫

That's on me. I love working for free to undo my ****ups.

The good thing is you realize the clown show and at least have a good attitude about clown shows.
