If you prefer a .30 cal bullet and like the ar platform you should really look at the 300 blackout cartridge.

Once I get my NFA trust set up, I'm picking up a suppressed Blackout upper. Gonna be sweet;)

I appreciate all the comments, guys. I read something recently about the Blackout...hafta find it again. I might just have my first AR the way it is used most commonly (5.56) and then decide if I like it enough to go with a bigger caliber or just stick to the lightweight. I'll put on my thinking cap before long. It would probably be a good idea to have a carbine in a military round anyway.

:meh: 5.56 is plenty good if you are shooting the right ammo. The terminal ballistics are excellent on the 55gr soft points. All depends on what you are buying the rifle for though;). .300 blackout Is nice for shooting suppressed. You lose so much in velocity and energy with subsonic ammo the heavier boolit is nice for things traveling a little slower.

Edit: add that .300 blackout ammo will be expensive compared to 5.56 or .308. Not a very cost effective option, more specialized:meh:

the 22 will be cheaper to shoot :D

some of the convertible solutions are pretty slick; don't have any specific thoughts to share on the bushmaster though
except for 900 bucks you could probably have the crockpot trail worthy; but i can't say much here :/
I know I was considering the same idea with the sig 250 i believe.... 45 and 22 options in one unit

Make sure the gas key is properly staked on the bushmaster. Mine was not. It's been a qc problem for them in recent years. They've prob got it fixed by now. Google what the staking should look like . Pull the bcg and compare. Not hard to do with a vise and punch if it needs to be done

Im lookin at goin to buy a .22 and. 223 bushmaster combo tomorrow for $899. Any thoughts?

I saw that too and it sounds tempting but your withing a couple hundred dollars of the Colt LE6920 and that puts you in a better class of rifle. The .22 conversion is easy to add later.

I saw this last week, also - but I could never find a good review of this particular setup - looks like some say the platform that it is built on is not worth it, others say it was aok for the money - but I don't want to spend $900.00 and have something not reliable in the 5.56 category, at least base wise. What I could find on it was that people said the .22 lr upper was very reliable and wished that the 5.56 upper was as reliable.... idk....

Pretty sure the reliability issues have more to do with the bcg than the upper itself. More specifically the lack of staking in the gas keys and a weak extractor spring, insert, and o ring. Easy fixes. If your going to run your ar hard regardless of brand you should check these items. These are common issues in mid priced brand ars. Easy fixes read more here

You have to love a well made revolver. Heather just got a Ruger SP-101 a few moths back, what a beautiful piece of machine work.

Yeah, the one at the top (Mod 60) and one at the bottom (Mod 29) are both pre-70's gubs. The shnubbie is a 67 or 68 and the Dirty Harry special is a 1969.

Both are still rock solid shooters at 40+ years old;)

So I put my pits up on Craigslist and some guy wants to know if I'll do a partial trace for a Rock Island A1 CS with 5 mags, 130 target rounds and 15 hollow points. He says that he's got 'all the paperwork' and that this is worth $500.

My questions, if you guys don't mind:
1. What would you pay for this setup?
2. How does one conduct a legal 'sale' of a handgun from one individual to another?
