Wake could come up with 2 mil they got nothing but rich little preps who had money when they got there and have more when they get out. :flipoff2: But I don't want Grobes sorry ass anyway he's about 1000 yrs old he's probably gonna die on the sideline any day now. Bill Cowher is my #1 choice and hes itching to get back into coaching, hes also looking for a house in the Cliffs communities right now. He'll put some discipline and hard hitting back into the program.

After watching/listening to the press conferences, I doubt it was as amicable a resignation as they made it sound. But I do like the fact that this happened early enough that we can get the jump on the other schools like UNC last year and Florida and Meyer.

I do like the enthusiasm that Dabo has, although I think he might be in over his head. Hope it works out for him. I think he'll be good, and would be willing to stay at Clemson until Bama came calling.

I don't like either Kiffin (too left coast, no ties here, might be flighty if a big Pac-10 job comes up) or Johnson (Like that he's a Clemson man, but how long can he coach? Not a stellar record at Vandy) or Grobe (doubt he'll pull an O'Brien and move to another ACC school) or Schiano (Rutgers rode their RB to their success last year).

Muschamp is a good option. I'd like to look at LSU and UF's coordinators, or maybe look at BYU's coach (worked for Florida). We'll see, at least it'll be different from the past 9 years...

Like the rest of the 'necks I dream of Cowher but realistically I doubt it. He can probably make the same money for 1/10th the work on TV.

I listened to Dabo's conference last night. Jeri and I both liked him a lot. If he can pull a Copperfield he might have a chance but it'll be hard with no O line. Why didn't he fire Brad? Why Spence?

Dabos presser was solid if he performs as a coach the way he does when he's getting grilled by the media he'll be around a while.

As for BYU's coach his names Mendenhall and theres no way a mormon BYU grad is going to leave BYU to coach Clemson. I'd be ok with Muschamp but he doesn't have any more experience than Dabo so I don't know if that really gets you anywhere. I think Peterson from Boise St might be a good option, has a little more experience good offensive mind no and has shown he can win big games. Guess time will tell, I'm not sure how you can do a search and give the interim guy serious consideration at the same time though. Either Dabo wont get his fair shot b/c they will be interviewing others or they wont really get started until late because they will be waiting to see how Dabo does.

Harper is a cry baby. They ought to bench him for the rest of the season. All he did was lob balls in the air against Wake.

Clemson quarterback Cullen Harper says dissent had spread on team

Buzz up! CLEMSON -- The star quarterback the coach had benched said Monday that Tommy Bowden hadn't lost the entire team but that dissent had become more widespread among players on a preseason Top 10 team that now is at a dramatic crossroads with three wins, three losses.

"Probably everybody wasn't buying into what was going on around here," quarterback Cullen Harper said after the team's first practice under interim head coach Dabo Swinney. "We were sitting there at 3-3; we were doing the things we were coached to do, but we just weren't getting the results. And any time you're not getting the results, I think you're going to lose some people, and I think that's what happened."

Harper delivered a stark assessment of Bowden, who resigned Monday afternoon after 91/2 seasons as Clemson's coach, critical of what he described as his coach's public criticism of him. Others, such as running back James Davis, were emotional as they tried to talk about the departure of the coach who had brought them to Clemson.

Davis said he regarded Bowden as a father figure.

"You know, Coach Bowden always was straightforward with me no matter what ..." said Davis, his voice tailing off. Davis bowed his head and headed toward the locker room with tears streaming down his cheeks.

Harper said he had lost some respect for Bowden after the coached questioned Harper's toughness earlier this season, then announced Friday that he would be replaced at quarterback by redshirt freshman Willy Korn for Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.

"In the past, there's been problems from my side with Coach Bowden going to the media and kind of addressing problems there," Harper said. "That's the only issue I've ever really had" with him.

But it had become quite an issue, Harper said.

"From a personal standpoint, I think that a coach should always deal with issues about the team with the team first," Harper said. "I think there are just some things that belong inside the locker room. It's unfortunate that I never got a chance to talk to Coach Bowden about the situation."

"To me I'm the type of person who wants to be up front and wants to know exactly what page I'm on with somebody. It was kind of unfortunate the way it all went down. For something like that to happen, it ticks a lot of people off. A lot of people didn't like the way that was handled, but you know what? That's in the past now.

"I wish the best for coach Bowden, and I hate it had to come to this," Harper said. "But we're 100 percent behind coach Swinney and we're still believing. We're going to do our best to turn this thing around."

Junior center Thomas Austin said he embraced the chance to return to the practice field Monday evening.

"It was a long day -- a lot of build-up, a lot of uncertainty heading into practice," Austin said. "Just to go back out there and start practicing again, I think that's what we needed."

Korn, a highly regarded redshirt freshman out of Byrnes High in nearby Duncan, said he was surprised by Bowden's resignation, but doesn't expect any player fallout.

"Everybody was sad to hear the news -- he's the reason all of us came here," Korn said. "But we've got to move on. We were always a tight-knit group, so I don't see the team chemistry changing in any way."

You really want to bring up bowl history?

Let's see your entire history:

Dixie, Tangerine, Independence, Aloha, Seattle, Orange, Car Care.

Our history not even counting the toilet bowls:

Cotton 1
Orange 3
Gator 8
Sugar 1
Peach 5
Chik fil A 1

So yes, I think we know how the weather feels in Florida in Dec.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, go back and make sure I was talking about your past bowl appearances - especially the ones you've seen in the last ten years.

I know you Clemson fans like your asterisk laden history but you haven't done anything meaningful in a long time.

You dogged two teams as "second rate" and they both beat you and, at this point in the season, have a better shot at playing for the division title than your perennial losers.

My point was about the weather in Florida in EARLY December. The ACCCG. Not your fault, you wouldn't know...

And BTW, if you win that game, your next game is in January with the big boys, not December. ;)

Old? Really? Wow, it seems a big portion of your fan base would kill for Bobby Johnson and he's Grobe's senior.

Anyhoo, this is all great. Your team is the laughing stock right now Richard.

Good luck this weekend, it is awesome Harper and his dad have hidden his (deserved) demotion in some kind of shoulder problem.

Our fans want him b/c hes an alumni but most people want muschamp or kiffin its only the old folks that want an old coach. We'll just have to wait and see cause a lot of people are getting on the Dabo express and it wouldn't surprise me to see him stay on, a lot of people in the administration really like him. I think hes gonna do a good job and I'd take him over Kiffin any day.

I think it's funny that right now everyone says that Clemson NEEDS to hire a big name coach to get them over the hump. The next sentence is usually "and Dabo's not that guy". If we go anything greater than 4-2, EVERYONE will be talking about the job he did turning this team around and he'll be the big name coach everyone wants.

I'm sure TDP is doing his search now, talking to both Grobe and Johnson, Muschamp and Kiffin, etc., but he's also good enough at identifying talent (Les Miles, OP) that he'll give Dabo his shot. That said, who all's going to the game tomorrow? I'll be there, that's for sure.

So your basing your ball clubs "elitism" on a game that has only been around for 3 years that you have played in once?

Good luck with Maryland this weekend.

Jeremy

I'll be at the game bright and early, GO TIGERS!

As for Wake 3 yrs to look at is all they have in around 100 of playing football so you can't blame them for trying to brag about it. They are used to sucking at real sports and don't know how to win with class. Andy just pretend its field hockey of water polo or some other sport that pretentious rich momma boys play and youll realize that no one outside of Wake cares b/c its just some random little blip on the radar and youll be the same old nothing before long.

No, the words "second rate" and elitism" came from your keyboard, not mine.

Thanks, we'll need it. Good luck with the Jackets.

Gotcha. Don't you refer to Clemson's athletics dominance in all sports, especially when arguing with your SEC friends in this thread?

And I seem to recall you mentioning soccer regularly. Check out Wake's team (or the reigning NCAA champs as some like to call them) the and get back to me. :flipoff2:

Funny you mention class. As David I believe has told you before, those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

What a sucky day. Clemson, UNC, and Wake all lost. The only glimmer of light was seeing Georgia win and my wife happy. But even they did have an easy game.

Clemson looked lost, which I can totally understand. Hope Korn isn't hurt to bad. I'd rather see him play than that sucky Harper.

Wake looked like a deer in headlights. They looked like they did against Clemson. Only problem was GT looked a lot better than Clemson.

UNC pretty much sucked after the 1st quarter. The backup QB Sexton showed why he is the backup. While he has played well enough for UNC to win these past few today he pretty much sucked. Looking forward to getting Yates back soon. Still happy with the season considering our past anything is an improvement.

a matter of perspective

Po ol Gamecocks got hammered.
Maybe they can win next Sat.
Open week always plays 'em tuff.
I see where the papers gave CU
a moral victory and pronounced
the Tigers are back to their championship form in no time.
Football is fun again for CU
even when they lose according
to player quotes in the news.
I hope all world Willie is back
for the annual beatdown of
the chickens. :grinpimp:

Woo Hooo, Auburn didn't loose this weekend.......

we didn't have a game to play.
