What you guys saw last night was an SEC team beating the snot out of a lesser conference team....Clemsux fans are only trying to rain on the parade...come the last game of the season we will be seeing an SEC team march into death valley and dominate another lesser conference team.

I'm going to ignore your dribble about Garcia its a waste of time since you think he's amazing, even though he had less TD's and more INT's than Parker did as a Redshirt Freshman last year.

All I have to say about the above quote is which conference has more teams ranked? SEC or ACC? :flipoff2:

the preseason ranking is a pile of crap. They got Bama right at the number one spot...but the rest of them, you could have had a drunken monkey pull school names out of a hat and would be just as close.

This season i think the top 5 will get mixed up alot (with the exception of Bama)

and do i need to remind you that although Parker did have more TD's than Garcia we also played a scheduel that was severat times harder than clemson.

anyone can throw a TD against the citidal and wake...thowing TD's against the likes of Georgia, Bama and Florida is a little harder to do. Unlike the ACC, the SEC knows how to play D.

Georgias D was a joke last year, and the ACC has plenty of good D's the problem is the best one is Clemson's which Parker only gets to go after in practice. After that 5 days a week dropping 40+ on the Miami D doesn't look to hard.

we got 245 rushing yards last season against the so-called best D in the ACC.

We couldn't get that many rushing yards against Kentucky, Vandy or Georgia. So i guess what i'm saying is the middle/lower of the SEC pack is better than the top ACC defense. Again proves my point...if Garcia and company played in a conference without the likes of Georgia, Tenn, Florida, Bama, Arkansas, LSU and Auburn...we migh catch a few more breaks.

All that proves is anyone can have a bad game or good game on a given day. That was the most rushing yards we gave up outside of GT all season and they have to run a triple option to do it.

Funny how Marshall disappeared once all the cheating Butch Davis and his program are doing up there in Chapel Hell came out.

Just to set the record straight on my leanings here, I hate Spurrier and would love to see him lose every game for the rest of his career regardless of where he coaches, SEC or not. I hold a grudge against that pr!ck.

In the ACC, I'm a fan of Clemson and have been forever since the great UGA/Clemson rivalry in the 80's. Been waiting a long time for something good to happen, but being a UGA fan, at least I usually have a pretty good team to cheer on!

All that said, what it "proves" is exactly what you said, any team can have a good/bad day against another team and strange things can happen. But, it also points out some statistically valid data that supports what pretty much anyone without rose colored glasses knows... and that is that the SEC defenses are tougher by a long shot than ACC defenses.

I do like the pre-season polls this year... because we'll be able to point to them at the end of the year and see what a joke they were... NC won't be there... for one.

Steen I'm glad to hear you don't mind cheering for Clemson. Good for you to be cheering a winner some this year.

OTOH the bits and pieces I saw of the Gamecocks game last night was pretty encouraging. A lot of loose ends but looked better to me than they have at season start for a while. Could be for real this year. Lattimore is looking impressive, Garcia does a lot better with an O line and some backfield blockers plus some tall athletic receivers with two hands each.

We'll see Clemson tomorrow but at the moment I'm very enthusiastic about their possibilities as well.

I'll take the Tigers straight up in this year's state champeenship for whatever anyone feels is a gentlemanly amount. Offer closes at 3PM tomorrow. I've never been able to get a Gamecock fan to bet on them without points, but I see some silly stuff on this thread. Any takers? I'll be at the Annual Mtg.
Money talks, bullsnot walks. Any suckers out there? If so PM me, I don't want the alphabet people busting this thread.
BTW I'm a Carolina alum and I don't mind paying to see them have a successful year, their first since the Old Has-been got there. I don't feel like looking it up so remind me; when did USC last go twofer on Clemson in football? And what's the overall record between them since I was there, say the last 40 years?

Holy crap what a game. Almost turned it off 3 times before the end. Was Hoping Troll's team was going to pull the upset. Great come back attempt especially being short-handed on the roster.

Straight up. $100 to UC treasury to be paid by the loser. On like Donkey Kong. You Sir, should quit the
masquerade as an "impartial" fan of both. You are Tater through and through.
That 34-17 weren't no accident. Sorry if I missed your deadline. My time was otherwise occupied.
That is some stellar D the Tigers fielded yesterday. NFL baby. Award winning QB performance too.
Heck I was more impressed with the Tarheels. That was some gutty performance.
I'm not so sure UC will get a "W" in that one now.
But, there it is. $100 for good ol Upstate Cruisers from the loser. Good cause among friends.
You and me Bill....offer expires the 3rd week of November.
Man up ya ol Moo Uer. ;)

You're right. And you're a coward if you waited until after the Clemson game to take me on. Clemson looked very bad.
But . . . Benefit of the doubt. As I said, that offer expired yesterday at three. But for you and you only I will offer to double up, winner pays UC treasury.
Put up or shut up. Offer expires with Labor Day. Loser donates two large to Cruiser karma.
If you don't buy in I'll hold you to your $100 but I have 'til 3 November to call you on that one.

I named the dough. $100. So you want till Nov 3rd to take up THAT offer? Come on Man, where's
that famous All In attitude?
Ya got till 11/3 to do the Benjamin bet. I like this bet. It's a winner for Upstate Cruisers. I know
you don't need the money.
:grinpimp:

So you'll go for one after seeing how bad Clemson paid yesterday, but you don't have enough confidence in the OBC to double up for the big game.
I don't like to repeat myself but just to be clear that offer expired yesterday at three.
The double will stay open through tomorrow. You have until then to reverse your copout and man up.

Your offer will be open until Nov 3? OK. The game is Nov 27. The 11/3 was my mistake, you Did say third week of Nov.
But whatever.
My offer is through tomorrow for two large. Put up or shut up.
If that's too expensive I'll wait and see how the season plays out before I answer your call. Blind faith is expensive. Reasoned risk is for Vegas.

On another note: Troll your Heels did you proud. Very impressive.

Take your time. See how the Tigers look before you take the bet. I don't blame you.
So, am I to understand you want till 11/27?
Okie Dokie. Heck wait till kick off for all I care.
Just post here when you are confident enough in Dabo's All In cheer-leading to wager some straight up
money for Upstate Cruisers.
Doubt you'll wager by then.
The bloom on the Orange rose is fading already.

Apparently a law degree at USC doesn't require much reading comprehension skills.
Let me try once more to get the message across.
I was willing to offer to cut through the smacktalk BS and offer a blind bet against Clemson before they showed their hands in their opening game. My experience with so-called Gamecock fans has always been lots of talk-no action.
So now after Clemson looks bad in their opener one bold Cock fan wants that bet. One more time: THAT OFFER HAS EXPIRED.
Now the price of poker has gone up. I offered you, counselor, an opportunity to back your hand and double up. If you're scared, say you're scared.
Money talks, bullsmack walks.

Spurs or eggs?

as a S.Car fan...i'm pretty used to big let downs so i don't bet on them...i will however bet against them because like you i don't mind paying to see them win. That way even if i lose i win :)

with that being said I think it's too early to judge how the S.Car season will go. The Ga game is usually the big test. If we beat georgia we will have a great year for our standards, if we lose it's another 6-6.

Ya know...just forget it. You don't want to put $100 on your Tigers, just say so. Oh...that's right you want
to wait till dang near kickoff to make up your mind.
Just forget it. I'm sorry you ain't got the gonads to man up the straight up $100 on your Tigers.
Oh yee of little faith.
Sorry Upstate Cruisers. Tell ya what. I'll take USC for $100. If CU wins I'll give $100 to Upstate Cruisers.
If USC wins......sorry........no takers.
All my prior offers are hereby rescinded.
Geeesh

So Bill offered $100 straight up after the USuC game but before the Clemson kickoff. Then offered $200 after the Clemson kickoff, but according to your comprehension he doesn't want to risk $100 on the Tigers? I'm confused, have we been reading the same thread?

And I agree the Tarheels looked good, however I don't have a whole lot of faith in LSU this year. I say they will be 6-6 on the season, and so will the Heels.

As far as last nights game, VT looks tough to beat this year. That VT/Miami game looks to be a good one down the stretch. Will probably decide who gets to go to the ACCCG.

Jeremy

Well, 6-6 might be a little brash on the purple tigers. I really hate that team with a passion, let's just say the Gamecocks will have a better season than LSU.

Jeremy

I agree with Steen no way UNC is ranked at the end of the year.

Clemson looked poor on Saturday, D wasn't tackling well, Parker wasn't hitting the check down and his accuracy was off, receivers are still subpar as expected. Hopkins and McNeal both made a couple plays though, I expect them to be starters by the end of the year freshman or not. On the bright side of things our O line was giving Parker a day and a half to not make the checkdown, and 2 hundred yard rushers is always good, also very few penalties. I would hate to be in the film room with Kevin Steele on Sunday though I bet he laid into those guys something awful.
