Small movement on the Pig. Yesterday I went with my employer to Nolens to get a ‘71 Pig that’s been dead for a long time and somehow ended up on his property but wasn’t his. It’s ugly but not super rusty and it will be getting a 1UZ and R150F sometime in the future. Nolen had a spacer H42 that he gave me so it will be going into my Pig.

Now that I have a trans the two big things to find next will be a 2F flywheel and clutch release fork for a ‘85-87 FJ60. After I find those I’ll be able to mate the engine and transmission together. I’ll be ordering a split case rebuild kit from CruiserOutfitters soon to go ahead and get the transmission and transfer case mated.

This afternoon we moved the Pig up from the pasture to my house in preparation for it going under the knife. I also went and got a cheap 8274 for it last weekend that was too good a deal to pass up.

Small movement, but movement non the less.

I started scrubbing at the oxidized gray paint on the Pig today with some CLR and a scrubber pad, curious if there was anything good hiding under the years of respray. It looks like there is.

Underneath the gray there is white, and at the bottom, red.

Does the red look like primer or paint to the people on here? I’m having to be very careful not to rub through it as it’s thin. There is red in the wheel wells so I’m inclined to believe it was red and white originally. I’m going to try to get it back down to the original paint where I can.

Nolen... as in Nolen England? As in... a junkyard/parts yard in Florence, AL?

Ha! I see "Alabama" and then a mention of a guy named "Nolen", and the subject-matter has something to do with car parts and whatnot... so, I instantly think of my Uncle Nolen in Florence who runs a junkyard/parts yard. My bad! Don't mind me. Carry on!
I see, easy connection to assume.

Does he have Cruisers in his yard?

Slight more progress today. I removed the radiator, grill and core support in addition to disconnecting all heater hoses and wiring in preparation of pulling the locked up F.

I’ll circle back to removing the engine in a couple of weeks.

see if you can crack the crank pulley nut loose before you pull it
How come?

I wasn’t planning on doing anything with the F except selling parts from it if there’s any interest, and possibly swapping the intake to my 2F.

How come?
You're not going to find a place to mount it as securely as it is now, somebody is gonna want that pulley. and maybe the crank, and the rods. and maybe you'll break the engine free in trying...

You make very good points sir.

I will break it free before I pull it, I may do it tomorrow. I doubt the crank and rods are worth anything, unless the crank got turned, but it’s always fun to dissect an engine.

I also have a whole other F that isn’t locked up that I need to sell.

It is always fun to dissect an engine. There's a lot of special fasteners there that can come in handy some day. Spare pushrods are good to carry. extra headbolt becomes a thread-cleaning tool. Empty blocks make a fine planter, a flywheel on top of the crankshaft makes a cute little birdbath. I have an F piston ashtray...
