So it seems to be throttle related. If I floor it it'll cut out while if I don't go more then 1/4 throttle it'll go to redline. But if I unhook the tps it still does it

Completed going through all of the engine wiring harness again, no problems at all. Got everything re-installed and will drive it later today. I'm also going to replace the fuel filter and test the TPS and MAF.

Well I drove the truck 300 miles to Salem. It did really well, kept it between 65-70 in fourth gear. But it used an alarming amount of oil, 3 quarts to be exact and if I hit higher rpms I can smell oil. I'm wonder if I screwed up the valve stem seals?

Park it nose up on a steep hill, rev the engine. If it belches smoke on going off throttle (high vacuum), then the stem seals are leaking.

Otherwise, leak down test.

Is the PCV valve in good shape?

Well I'll do that when I can get it running again. I think the transmission may have just blown up. Or I snapped another crank again. Going down the highway and hear a metal noise and it dropped something. But oil is all over so I'll figure it out when it's clean

So far all I've seen is that both transmission to engine braces have snapped. The truck does start and run. But when it's starting something for sure seems wrong with the flywheel.

Well...there's a hole in the side of my block. Time to track down a new block and rebuild the engine.

Here's the obligatory photo

I would've sold this truck long ago but for the fact it is a great learning experience. Now I just need to A) buy a block crank and such from LCE or B) track one down. I'm leaning towards option A as there aren't any good machine shops around my area. Or maybe it's good time for a 3rz swap :hmm:

Start over bud. 3RZ, and don't look back.

ouch! I got a spare 2l diesel that will bolt right in. It might need a rebuild.

Connecting rod snapped off on the number 4 piston while I was doing 65 in fourth gear. And thank you for the offer for the diesel but I don't have enough time to figure out all the problems putting it in place of a gas engine. But that would've been an awesome swap.

Pick N Pull has a few 22REs in stock. Lynnwood and Tacoma. 50% off sale on right now. I also have a spare short block. Pistons and cylinders look ok. Crank is damaged, but might be machinable. I have not had time to take it apart to check. I was going to throw it on Craigslist for $100. (Canadian) You would have to drive up through the border to get it.

Thanks for the offer. But I just ordered a block and such from LCE. I would've love a rz swap but I don't have the time right now to do it. Summer months I only get a few hours a week to fix my truck

At least my head can be reused. Since it's only got maybe 350 miles on it it shouldn't be warped and it shouldn't be damaged since a piston broke not a chain. Of course I'll still check it with a straight edge.

Got the 261C came ordered from Engnbldr, buy I have a question for you guys, I know Toyota head gaskets are the best but I'm wondering if the one in LCE's master rebuild kit would be just as good? I wish I could just reuse the one I just bought but even with 350 miles on it I know I shouldn't.

So I may have a line on an E-locker, buts it's 4.88 (what I was told) I have 4.56's. I'm wondering if I'd be fine to install it in the rear then next summer get 4.88's for the front. I'm thinking I'll be using 4wd a lot but in snow and not for high speeds. What do you guys think?
