Well, he did pay for the first truck in the same manor. He just made money on the accident.

I think what you are doing is great. Kids need to know what things cost. Too many kids today don't know the value of a dollar and should work for what they want.

got a notice today that the owner of the other vehicle wants a stricter punishment for Mike and has filed a civil lawsuit against him. Our court date is Dec 15th.
What was his punishment?

the punishment is the usual, higher rates and points.

right now it looks like he wants my son fined and to loose his license. I've got to talk with a lawyer when I get home.

whats done is done, the guy is just pissed that his truck got fu@ked i highly dought that mike will get a stiffer punishment from the law kinda like double jeopardy law

i hate these bitches that sue over this stupid s***, some people just need to get a life and deal with the cards life throws at them

good luck to mike he doesn't need to go threw any more crap

Throwing this out there but maybe try contacting the other party and have a face to face talk.

Perhaps Mike could do something for the community, like 250 volunteer hours, just to have the charges dropped permanently and closure. Maybe worth a shot...?

Isn't it gonna cost a ton of money to fight this?

I'm not talking to this guy and ask for him to drop the charges, He's a dick head and I'm not going to give him that satisfaction. My work has coverage for this sort of thing and we get a free 1/2 hour consultation with a lawyer and then 25% discount on his services if we use him.

That guy is a Toyota owner too.....I would expect better from him. Sounds like a douche with too much time on his hands

just got home and what he did is ack for a hearing to review the need for criminal charges. We each get to plead our cases and then someone decides if it moves forward.

There was no witnesses to the crash so I have no idea what he hopes to gain.

Something does not look right here,
A civil suit should have nothing to do with criminal charges, just $$$$$
Has Mike been issued any citiations yet?
Your insurance company should cover the lawyer for this

It's not a civil suit as I first thought. He is applying for criminal charges to be applied to Mike. We have a hearing date where we both plead our case and if there is deemed enough evidence to warrant criminal charges then we go to court.

So he is not looking for any addition compensation he just wants to jack up my son with criminal charges.

That guy sounds like a real a******. I could understand if the guy was in the car that got hit that maybe he'd have a reason but this sounds like the guy is just a dick. That's the type of guy that prolly mows his lawn at 7 am on a Sunday or leaves his barking dog out all night.

Probably the type who gets in the left lane and goes exactly 65 to keep everyone else from going faster.

That sucks, hope it works out.

Dave i think you nailed the guys personality spot on right there:cool::lol:

Criminal charges for wacking a parked car at night? This is just stupid. What on earth could be the charge?!!!

I would not have a face to face with this guy. Use the lawyer, the guy is asking for it.

BTW was his car legally parked? Check it out, he could be partially responsible if it was illegally parked. How far was his truck into the road? Look for the tire marks.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Talked with the officer who did the report. Seems he contacted the state police and had their forensics dept calculate the speed Mike was driving, a whopping 37mph!

So no chance of reckless driving and since there was no one around at the time of the accident there is no one was endangered.

This guy needs to find something other than his hand to love.
