2022 Thanksgiving Day Parade: Info Meeting

Rules & Regulations

1. You will get your line-up number following at the end of today’s info meeting. If your entry is a group, please be certain that all members of the group have their position number and all the necessary details prior to parade day.

2. It is required that you display your line-up numbers on each side of your parade entry, so that announcers know what script to read (in case entries become out of order). You will get your line-up numbers at the end of the info meeting.

3. Children under the age of six years will not be permitted to ride on a parade entry unless accompanied by an adult.

4. Local ordinances do not permit the discharge of firearms within the boundaries of Fountain Hills. ALL GUNS DISPLAYED BY PARADE ENTRIES MUST BE EMPTY!

5. LOCAL SAFETY REGULATIONS DO NOT PERMIT THE THROWING OF ITEMS FROM MOVING ENTRIES. CANDY OR OTHER ITEMS MAY BE DISTRIBUTED BY PARADE WALKERS ONLY AT CURBSIDE ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE. SPECTATORS ARE CONFINED TO THE CURBSIDE OR MEDIAN.

6. Judging of ALL entries will be conducted during the Parade. Judges are located on the South Side of the Avenue of the Fountains near the intersection of the Avenue/Verde River. Do NOT stop in front of the judges.

7. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED!

8. Staging will begin at 7:00 AM. It is advised to send one representative to staging early so the rest of your group can identify the location they need to be in. All parade participants must be in the staging area at 9:00 AM ready to go!

9. All entries MUST be accompanied by a 50 words or less Announcer’s Script that will be read on the Public Address System during the Parade. These announcer scripts are to be sent to betsy@fhchamber.com or tammy@fhchamber.com by November 22nd.

10. No Excessive Stopping/Performing for judges on parade route. When you take a 1 minute stop to perform for judges, it haults all of the entries behind you and creates a huge gap in the parade. If you want to stop for the judges, please keep it to 15 seconds maximum.

11. Any entry that does not comply with the rules and regulations as set by the parade Committee will not be allowed to participate in the Parade.

12. Please follow directions of Chamber staff, Town staff, and volunteers at the event.

13. There will be two porta-johns in the staging area: one near Phil’s Filling station, and one at the intersection of Verde River/Parkview.

14. Please keep all entries family friendly!

15. We ask you to relay all information from today’s meeting to the rest of your entry so that we are all on the same page for Thanksgiving morning.

Looks like I will not be making it this year. Bummer but have a great time. Hope to be there next year.

I will be there in my 40.

We'll be there in a 78 '40. Thanks.

I'll bring my 40, too

Anyone have any pictures of the parade they can post?

My little brother sent me this and how I learned that the club existed. I hope to get involved.

Had a good time at the parade. Unfortunately a kid fell off a float way ahead of us, was run over, and the parade was halted for a long time. The kid was taken by ambulance and is expected to make a full recovery. In the confusion, many people ended up leaving the parade early thinking it was over. Still there were lots of kids and families. Thanks for everyone who showed up!

during the stoppage for the accident, I switched the 40 off - and when we were finally cleared to go, it didn't immediately want to start

while I was cranking, an older couple walks over and the guy asks whether I need a "push to the side" - I didn't even get what he was talking about "what for ? it's gonna go any moment now" - and so it did  (got a few claps from the onlookers)

sorry to hear of the kid getting injured - but overall it was a great day, and lots of people were in Holiday Spirits

Jeff, thanks for organizing this

Please reply to this thread if you are in. Thanks :):):)
