Grom seems like a fail-safe solution even for me. I have a Teyes (still in the box) — I originally wanted it for the better 360 camera and improved display and hardware for additional apps (although it's questionable whether anything can actually be installed there). But I'm a bit concerned about the installation issues and also the ridiculous color mismatch, where the front panel has a completely different color than the rest of the original dashboard.I put a generic android head unit in my kids Jeep Renegade, and it has its quirks.. but I can totally live with it, so would love to see if there was a decent option for the LX. I have a Grom. It’s fine but the hardware is almost useless for running modern Android apps, so it’s only good for CarPlay of low power apps.
Those were my concerns as well. Was hoping to see one installed. Between the mismatch and maybe the fact that the overlay covers the screen partially? Seems like it may look too bad to be usable. My other option is to do the screen refresh on the OEM screen to at least get fix my fading display screen.Grom seems like a fail-safe solution even for me. If you mean that the original frame around the display covers the edge where information is still displayed (which results in, for example, only part of the button being visible because of the frame), that might be something we could address. EXTDUDE mentioned here that they will try to play around with the display resolution settings, or they might release an update (maybe they already have). That’s a problem that can be easily solved with software. Those were my concerns as well. Was hoping to see one installed. did you end up resolving ur issue with the teyes screen?Disappointed to say I might be reaching the end of this expensive experiment. I can't seem to get any sort of support from Teyes. Couldn't get a response on Whatsapp at all last week, this week I've gotten one dismissive response.
My head unit seems to be perfectly functional (powers up, connects to wifi etc), but has no audio output and I have no HVAC controls and the HVAC panel is nearly dead (dim light, no actual working buttons/controls). I've tried multiple CAN bus settings. I've provided this data, pictures and video to Teyes.
My suggestion to anyone considering Teyes is to stay away unless you have money and patience to spare.![]()
Not yet. Still trying to work with Teyes support. If anyone from Teyes sees this thread, look into zendesk or similar software. WhatsApp is not a support tool.did you end up resolving ur issue with the teyes screen?
i have teyes installed in my 06 ls430 and it works flawlessly. I wanna try it on my 13 lx but people havent figured it out yetNot yet. Still trying to work with Teyes support. If anyone from Teyes sees this thread, look into zendesk or similar software. WhatsApp is not a support tool.
Thanks for testing all this. Hope you can keep working on it so us non techy’s can get these tooProgress update. Was traveling for past few weeks and haven't had a chance to work on the Teyes head unit. Pinged their Whatsapp support some more, found I had one of the canbus plugs wrong and some of the audio plugs.
Current status is the head unit seems to function properly, I have audio output, wifi, on-screen display of climate control, OBD seems to work (I get a popup screen if I open a door, etc). I have not done exhaustive testing by any means as I'm still trying to fix the last known issue, which is that the climate control panel does not light up or work at all. The on-screen climate control seems to work, but I don't know how to initiate that control; when I turn the vehicle on, it pops up and the controls work. It disappears and I am not sure how to bring it back up.
Anyways, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.
None of the vertical buttons on the left do anything for me. But the climate button works and that brings me in and out of the climate screen. I can’t figure out how to get it in F, but thats another issue I ca live with.Progress update. Was traveling for past few weeks and haven't had a chance to work on the Teyes head unit. Gratz on progress! Exactly this kind of post gives me the courage to go for it tooProgress update. Was traveling for past few weeks and haven't had a chance to work on the Teyes head unit. Gratz on progress! Exactly this kind of post gives me the courage to go for it tooQuick question – does the factory camera work? For example, the automatic activation of the front camera at low speed? I ordered the 360 camera kit from Teyes, but I'll probably start gradually – first I'll just try running the unit by itself for a while.
From what I understand the factory front won’t work. Also, even with the $100 canbus, my rear one never worked. I ended up just using theirs. If you mount theirs, check The orientation before attaching it. The quality is good but it doesn’t fit in the factory holder. I 3D printed an adapter.Gratz on progress! Damn, I didn’t order the CAN bus module because I thought I’d just install their 360 system straight away. But when everything arrived, I got a bit freaked out seeing that I’d have to run wires from all those cameras. OK, so just the unit and the factory camera won’t work together. That’s a bit of a bummer. Do you happen to have that file for the holder saved somewhere? I’ve got a 3D printer, but I probably can’t design it myself. From what I understand the factory front won’t work. Also, even with the $100 canbus, my rear one never worked. Ha the one I made is kind of s***. I’ll start on a better one and post it here.Damn, I didn’t order the CAN bus module because I thought I’d just install their 360 system straight away.
