Tech Stream Bummer - Bad Disc

I installed some King springs today - so far, so good.

My big problem now is that I had to re-install Techstream (long story, my wife's dog peed in my old computer and it died)

Now when I start Techstream, it asks me for a key. It do not think it did the first time. Has anyone else encountered this?

Check this file, C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\ Env\IT3System.ini, for TISFunction=0. If it's a 1, change it to a zero and save the file.

What version of Techstream should I buy?

Thank you! That took away the key entry request!

Now when I try to connect, I get this :-( When I went to install, I got this message (below).

SO I am doing something wrong. It has probably been written up already - so thanks for letting me whine.

At this point I need to head out to BHCC, so I guess I will just figure this out when I get back.

Thanks

I am running Win7. Techstream worked fine before. The IT department at work rebuilt the computer, I was re-installing.

What is the x horse app?

What os is the new laptop? Is the cable recognized when you run the x horse application?

Run the FirmwareUpdateTool.exe from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\XHorse Electronics\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS". Click “Device Info”. You should see the “device connected” screen.

Did you update the registry with the .reg file?

Thank you, I will try this next.

So it appears I do not have an XHorse Electronics folder under Program Files (x86). This must have not installed correctly, eh?

What do I have to do with the .reg file? I do not recall having to do that in the past.

Trying to download the driver again and getting denied b/c it looks like a dangerous file :-(

In at least one case I know the anti-virus program doesn't like it because the program makes a change to the registry. That's not to say your version isn't bugged, just that it may not be a dangerous file.

Depending on how computer savvy one is, there is a program <Windows Firewall Control> that once installed will ask before letting any program send something from your computer - even stuff like windows or other program updates. You have to explicitly give permission for each program to talk to the internet. Can be tedious, granting/denying permissions, but I was also surprised at the number of software products that reached out to their mothership. I view it as another leg in computer protection. The can't steal my data/files I explicitly allow the program to send an outgoing message.

I’m sorry, but there is too much going on in this sentence that makes me have to ask for the story. I can just picture a dog giving you “the finger”, lifting his leg and letting fly on your laptop! Our Weimaraner is “my” dog during hunting season, but as soon as it’s over he reverts back to being mommas boy, and acts like I’m an inconvenience to him. The dog is a serious dork!

Yes, it is a great story. My wife has a little Chihuahua - "Tiny". I do not think Tiny has enough mental capacity to give me the finger, I think she just felt like peeing. She pees and poops wherever she pleases, and I was foolish enough to have my laptop on the floor. Let me find a representative picture of Tiny...
