Parts acquired. Guy was passing through on his way to Moab with his 2UZ swapped 4Runner, jealous.

5VZ BH, flywheel, kevlar clutch, CTX-107 pressure plate, MC and slave.

At least now I know you care. Nearly wrecking picking up an alternator for me doesn't count apparently, but this does

Haha. Chris and I still occasionally bring up me almost getting thrown into the ditch hunting that alternator down.

Doing some front bumper brainstorming while I wait for parts. Bit crude, but here's what I have come up with so far. Would be trimming a few inches off the bottom of the front of the fenders and chopping the frame rails.

Option 2 I am considering. Bends and copes would be easier, and more of a classic bullbar design I feel fits the blocky 70 a bit better. Might start bending some tube next week after this Black Hills trip.

I definitely prefer option 2, though I usually opt for the more classic look anyway. My main functional concern with option 1 is that the hoops over the headlights look too low and might clip the light beam.

But angry eyes! Lol. Yes, I did notice that and was probably going to move the bars up. But I'm leaning towards option 2. Design still needs some work around the frame but liking the top half.

Some comparisons with the old G52. Tailhousing is the same length on both, tcase shifter bung appears to be in the same spot so I should hopefully be able to use the G52 shifter without modification. The transmission shifter is 1.5" further forward on the R151F. Don't think I should need to do much to make that work. Length from tcase flange to Bellhousing is about 2.75" longer, should have plenty of room for the vacuum pump. I will also need to modify my cross member as the mount is different and above 1" back on the R151F. G52 shifter dropped right in.

Swapped the 5VZ bellhousing on and playing with parts. Unfortunately the 1HZ and 5VZ clutch fork and slave are a bit different, 5VZ bolts on higher and drops down closer in, 1HZ bolts lower and is spaced out with a longer fork. I did, however, steal the new fork pivot stud as that appeared to be the same on both.

TD Conversions has assured me that my adapter will ship early next week, should start coming together soon. Still waiting on rear axle and brake parts as well...

That new transmission is purdy! Interesting how many parts swap from the G52 to the R151. Depending on what you're planning with the transmission crossmember it might be simpler to just start from scratch and fab up a new one. I tried modifying my original and ended up building a new one, then built a second for the current swap. The new one is just some 1/4" plate and round tubing.

That looks good, but I've determined it should be fairly easy to modify the original cross member for my use. Just need to weld on a small extension on the back of where the mount sits and drill 2 holes about 1 1/6" back from the centerline of the old ones. I'll be working on that this weekend, spent a little more time this evening cutting out the cancer on the fender liners so I'll be patching those up too. Fortunately, those don't have to be pretty...

Cross member -Done. Most of my welds looked pretty good for not doing any serious welding in months, but the few spots that found a little rust underneath or burned through a little ruined it. So, most of it got rounded off because I'm self conscious about my welds, which i really shouldn't be after seeing half the welds proudly displayed on this forum 🙃

Used a piece of 2x6 3/16 I had laying around. Capped the sides. Also bent the belly up a bit.

A note to those swapping from a G52 to an R151F, the G52 mount is offset from the trans centerline and mounts offset. The R151F mount is offset, but the mount bolts for the cross member are centered on the trans centerline. The bolt holes are also a little over an inch more rearward. So I had to shift the bolt holes both back and to the left. Fingers crossed I measured correctly and it drops in fine 🤞

For the crossmember on my 80 swapping 1FZ-FE / A442F to 1HDFT/H151 I just added a plate forward to support the insulator. You can either weld or bolt it. I figured it’s a path of least resistance. 🤷‍♂️

Bit disappointed, was getting ready to start putting the split case on and realized I do not have an input shaft bearing. Also need an O ring in front of the input shaft gear apparently. All I can do for now is get the other bearings and seals installed and ready to slap in once I have everything. Also waiting for some dry moly spray lube to come, would like to spray down all of the splines, especially the fresh new ones, before assembly. Using this as an excuse to cancel my Toyotapartsdeal order for the axle splash plates, they still have not shipped and will not tell me why. Irritating, have not had issues ordering from them before. Pre-order placed with Amayama for everything including the 79 t-case breather that ties into the extended trans breather that came on the R151F. Should have by next weekend... Hopefully. With some luck, should have the engine mounted next weekend as well.

Flintstone caliper brackets and low mile Chevy Traverse calipers and brake parts are on the way as well. That's about the only thing other than the front bumper I plan on doing this year. August is fast approaching...

I've been experiencing similar delays, I get all ready to knock out a project on the Prado and discover I'm missing a couple of little parts and have to wait another week or so for them to ship.
