Here it the intermission from pig talk.
Thetail tale continues (tail: pre marriage, tale: post marriage)
So a 1973 FJ40 was my runabout thru the 90's and the first decade of 2K. I had been looking for a 55 off and on but hadn't see one that peak my interest.
I was interrupted in my quest by an add for a 1958 Triumph TR3, (no, not a motorcycle) for sale by the estate of the original owner. My daily driver in 1972 and early 73 was a 1958 TR3 and it was a total blast to drive, but not in bad weather.
Well I got side tracked from my pig hunt and did a 6 month resto (due to the son having way to much fun) on a 1958 TR3.
I share this tidbit with you all because even though this is a swine forum, at the heart of it all, we can't help but be motor heads when it comes to cool rides. So here is MY silver bullet and my tail magnet.
Engine details: Under the hood factory looking 2 liter engine
Reality;
Nitrated and harmonically balance crankshaft (still don't get the nitrating)[hardens the journals I think] (yes make jokes)'
Carrillo push rods
JE forged pistons 10.5/1 compression
Mild cam
Shave and CC'd head (more jokes)
5 speed Toyota Supra transmission (tall 5th gear)
Quaife LSD diff
Rear panhard bar
Re-jetted rear lever shocks
Koni front shocks
Aluminum tonnneau cover(yes the passenger side section ejects for picking uptale tail)
10" windsheilds
Aluminum rear wheel skirts
Custom adapted front wheel caps with original enamel emblems
Factor original front disc brakes
Extremely stable at all speeds, speedo stops at 120 put I have spun it till it stops.
Likes 100 mph, slight tap and 120 arrives quickly
30 Miles to the gallon
Used to drift nicely with Michelins and Pirellis but with Dunlop's can't get them to break loose(a bit scary)
It has an agent and has been in 3 commercials. One was a Mercedes commercial racing against Porsche and Mercedes at Willow Springs Race Way
30,000 miles doing road trips and Rally's, still going strong
Hope you enjoyed this interlude of another feather but enough of this intermission with mamby pamby british tin cans. Lets get back to the meat of the matter, pork belly and grits
My sweet swine arriving from its long journey from North Carolina approximately 2013
