Loading up for a weekend of sports dad stuff. Tailgate is great place to sort as you load/unload.

After 10 days of rain and a Memorial Day washout, I made a spontaneous decision to go camping Sunday to WV. Had a few work calls this AM at camp in Dolly Sods Wilderness. No cellular coverage but Starlink for the win.
The tailgate is my desk and hatch keeps the sun off my laptop screen. Tailgate is one of the most used items on the truck.

A heritage feature that's been core to the 60, 80, 100, and 200 series.
They've been around a little longer than that. Good for a party but can fill in as a work bench too...

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! It would have been my dream job location as I wrote/managed software projects.
I could have done my job from literally anywhere I could get internet but I went and retired in 2016.

Good on you!

I was in a Duluth Trading Co store and they had this:

Not a Cruiser but gave me an idea to take a junk 60 or something tailgate and make a fold up work surface/ cabinet in my shop.

Not mentioned yet, but another important functional feature of a tailgate is the ability to fully open the rear when towing a trailer. Full hatches will hit the tongue jack of the the trailer. That's a dealbreaker for how I use my 200-series.

Both tailgate and lift hatch clear because of the split hatch. A sideways opening hatch like the GX fails this test.

It's easy to think to extend the ball hitch, but that's bad form and keeping the ball close and tight is a critical dimension that minimizes leverage to tongue weight and sway of a trailer.

^ on the same line, opening the hatch when having bikes on my 4 bike hitch rack. Can't open the lower part but can still open the top.
