is this common? the one in the tailgate on the new pig is toast, and the one in teh spare tailgate. both are toasted right where the power wire is (light blue). i'm guessing this is just a junction, nothing more and i could use an aftermarket junction...anybody done that or have any reason not to do it?

I had to replace mine too. Just take some good pics of how it is wired.

Any terminal strip will work. There are NO junctions provided by the terminal strip other than straight across.

mine looks exactly the same.......any suggestions on replacements?........ specially a better quality one!, hate having to come back and redo things 10 years down the line!

Just seems odd that it's the power one that goes out, not the up or down
Howdy! I'm guessing it is caused from heat or electrolosis making the insulation dry/rotten. John

Howdy! I don't have a wiring diagram handy. Is that the one that goes thru the safety switch on the side? John

I cannot remember how close that rod show in the pics is but could it possibly hit it and ground out?

Also It may be the first thin water hits when the window seal goes out. It rusted and probably has a bad connection which leads to a hot terminal.

my rear window started crapping out this evening:frown: and when I took off the inspection plate found it looks like Inge's:crybaby:.......like the way Nat's looks.....clean and tidy:)...... any aftermarket suggestions or should I go with a used one?:bang:.....TIA

Lou

go aftermarket. you can easily find something that will last longer (of course, i went with a stocker again, but only because i happened to find one at the junkyard)

mine is a carbon copy of yours Inge; same place , same wire:frown:....question for the group; any suggestions on aftermarket replacements?........like Nat's solution. as always with everything he does..tidy, neat and professional looking.:lol:mine always looks cobbled together:frown:

Lou

I don't remember which one bit it, but yeah mine is dried and cracked as well. I'm going to find something at Radio Shack to install as a 'good enough' fix.

Brian

Brian; please let us know what you find out.........I have seen another wiring block besides mine corroded through in the same place as Inge's did:bang:

Lou

My window just crapped out this weekend too. I'll have to go take a look and see if I have the same problem. Thanks for the info!!

just duct tape the wires together:flipoff2:

Duct tape  Shouldn't you at least splurge on some electrical tape?

edit: I like the look of the one on Nats. I hope Radio Shack or someone local has a nice clean one like that.
