Swapping Sequoia engine for damaged LX470 engine. (1 Viewer)

I HAD TROUBLE FINDING A REPLACEMENT after I drove my 2006 LX470's engine to death (the timing belt broke while driving). I bought an engine (from eBay) that a mechanic said was not good.
Since then, searches for engines have produced no results. Then comes another mechanic who insists that he can replace my LX470 engine with a Sequoia engine. I am not sure this will work because when I search for engines, I get a warning that the Sequoia engine "does not fit" the LX470.
What are your thoughts?
Vehicle info 2006 LX470, 229K miles. Everything works on the vehicle including the AHC (which I repaired twice).

They are both 2UZ-FE's but I'm sure there are a few differences, just depends on what they can cannibalize from the old motor
that is specific to the LX.

Was your original engine VVTI? My understanding is that earlier 2UZ-FE are non-interference...

98,99,00 and some 01 are the earlier versions without VVTi and non-interference.

I believe it is the 06/07 VVTI engines that are known as interference. Since @Ownyrvoice has a 06 that would make sense.

Engine long block is the same but a lot of the ancillaires from your LX engine will have to be swapped over.

Mine is an interference. From my understanding from late 05 to '07 are interference engines.

06 and 07 were interference. All U.S. 2005 model year was non-interference.
